    3. Hi, I'm not the original message sender, however, you are the first of the responders to say that your family came from England. Mine also. My standstill on the Bond line is a John Bond married to a Ruth Calvert. I believe This John Bond was born in Lancashire. His son, James was born 25th August 1830 in Blackburn, Lancashire, England. I have no Birthrate, Place of birth or Death date or Place for John. Like I said, my standstill. John supposedly died in England. Ruth, his wife came to America and latter married a man named Brower. My question is, does any of your records indicate This John Bond? Thanks for your help. 3. My gr-grandfather Charles Bond married (2) a Martha J. Nichols in Texas. Both claimed their state of birth as Tennessee. Apparently the Nichols and Bond family were connected. The story is Martha was a close friend of my gr grandmother, Susanna J. Markham Bond, who died in childbirth, I believe. Both the second marriage of Charles Bond and the death of Susanna Markham Bond took place in Fannin County, Texas, between 1890 and 1900. The family called the second Mrs. Bond Grandma Nichols. I've been meaning to trace the Nichols connection a little further and this reminded me. Susanna's nephew married a Nichols also. In 1920 they were living in Burkburnet Texas (Wichita County) with Charles and Martha Nichols Bond. Thanks for the reminder. I want to look at the Bond/Nichols connection back in Tennessee. 3. Hi, On of my great uncles, William NICHOLS b. 1842 TN, married a Catherine Bond in 1837. They had a son, Argus, according to another relative of mine, who is also into genealogy. Don't know if any of this helps. If it does, I'll see if I can find out more from her. She does not have a computer so will have to snail mail her. Let me know. 3. Hi, Good news for researchers: [ My apologies to the folks who have multiple or incorrect subscriptions to LISTOWNERS-ANNOUNCE; I'll get that subscription list cleaned up as soon as I can. -B ] [ This is a public announcement -- it may be forwarded to any appropriate audience. -B ] The new search engine server is now online and can operate at the speed of a full T1 connection. Courtesy of hacks by Dale Schneider, you can search the USGenWeb Archives, now with *headlines* and *updated* to within the last 24 hours, at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ussearch.htm Courtesy of hacks by Karen Isaacson, you can search the archives of any mailing list (except those withdrawn by the listowner), now with nicer *formats* and *updated* to within the last 24 hours, at: http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl I'd also like to explicitly thank the folks who provided the resources that have made this new facility possible: o RootsWeb's Patrons, Donors, Sponsors, and Members. o Palladium Interactive, developers of the Ultimate Family Tree software for genealogists. Folks interested in helping RootsWeb provide new facilities can become Members by using the Web form at: http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/how-to-subscribe.html By the way, the next server we'll be bringing online will be a box dedicated to supporting Marc Nozell's HTMLized versions of the mailing list archives. We should have that box online within 48 hours, though it's reasonable to expect Marc to need a little time after that to get his software installed. (: Projects after that include a dedicated IRC server, upgrading the mail hub, upgrading the main Web server, building a NT-based FrontPage server, bringing a "dirtylists" list server online, and bringing a third ordinary list server online. [ The "dirtylists" server is for the big, rarely used announcement lists. We've developed a number of those things with 5,000 to 300,000 subscribers, and every time a post drops we kick the daylights out of the list server with hundreds or even thousands of bounces. We need a specially tuned box to handle these turkeys. ] No rest for the wicked, I suppose ... 3. I am unable to make a conncection with the recent inquiry concerning Banister BOND. However, I am always curious if there is the possibility of a collateral line. I am unable to get farther back than Robert Bonds, born about 1795 in North Carolina. He served in the War of 1812 and died in Wilson County, Tennessee. His first wife was Polly Benthall (Benton?) and they had eight children, Daniel B., William (Billly), Thomas, Robert Jr., Herbert W., Martha, John, and Alfred. His second wife was Frances Cawthon with whom he had four daughters, Nancy, Malissa, Mary, and Elzura. If anyone wants more information, I would be happy to supply it. I would like to break this North Carolina barrier if anyone can help me out. Thanks! mcartney@geneseo.net

    3. My g-g-grandfather was Banister (Bannister) BOND who was born according to census reports either VA or AL ca 1772. He served in War of 1812, but I found nothing there. He married Rachel CLARY, formerly MARTIN 10 May 1821 in Madison Co, IL. They first lived in Menard Co, IL and then moved to Davis Co, IA, where he died 13 Aug 1879. His tombstone says, over 100 yrs. We were always told that he was 107 when he died. He perhaps was married first to a Margaret (Peggy) SILVEY (SIVLEY) as we found a marriage record for a Bannister BOND & Peggy SILVEY for 12 May 1813 in Madison Co, AL. No divorce record, but a notice in a newspaper that he would no longer be responsible for her debts. I have a lot of information on the children of Banister and Rachel, if anyone is interested. I would especially like to find who his parents were and if he had any siblings. My theory is that perhaps his mother or grandmother's maiden name was Banister. Just a thought. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance. Betty Gregory BGreg3116@aol.com
