Charlotte, Your Frances Bond interests me......my grandmother was Mary Frances (Mollie)Bond/Bonds, born about 1856 AR?. I have looked everywhere for her and keep getting that brick wall. She married Hugh Watson Nichols circa 1873 in Franklin Co. AR. Any info would be appreciated. <mailto:ginman@connectcorp.net> Virginia Nichols Manning -----Original Message----- From: CTSchick@aol.com <CTSchick@aol.com> To: BOND-L@rootsweb.com <BOND-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Friday, July 24, 1998 4:00 PM Subject: Re: lucinda bond >Valerie, >The only information I have on Lucinda Bond is that she is supposed to be the >full sister of my ancestor, Frances Bond, born 25 March 1813, in Franklin >County,Georgia. Ginny, Sorry, your Mary Frances Bond does not ring any bells for me -- except, my other Bond family. My Grandmother was Margaret Ann Carrya Bond and she was the daughter of Rev. William Dodd Bond and Elizabeth Ann Mayfield. This family moved from Campbell County, Georgia to Claiborne Parish, Louisiana and then some of them into Arkansas. Only thing, they did not leave Georgia until after 1871 and before 1873. My grandmother's older sister was named Mary Frances Bond but this seems to have been after her two grandmothers. One was named Mary Ann and the other was named Frances. If you would like to see a little more detail on this family your can see it on John L. Dodd's web site at: <http://picard.tnstate.edu/~jdodd/ Click on Dodd first and then Jesse Dodd. Some of my Bond family then appears in the third generation down among the descendants of Jesse Dodd. You might also want to check out the still under construction web site of one of my Bond family cousins at: <http://members.aol.com/dadbond/Bond.html> I hope this helps. Warmest wishes, Charlotte Schick
Anybody have any information on Lucinda BOND b.Mar.14, 1819 in Franklin Co., GA, d.@1862 in Jackson Parish, LA? She was married to Wiley Henry Jordan first, then to John Wesley Carroll. Other collateral families are the Shells and Hearnes. Any thoughts about how to find her information would be greatly appreciated!! Valerie
Sharon, Well...well, now how about that. Guess we are some sort of cousins...how many times removed????? How do you fit into the W. W. Bonds, Sr line. We may be able to exchange some info yet. The info I have on John Bonds being in the Rev. War is just that. I have not obtained any documents yet. I've chatted with a cousin in Canada who declares he was in that war. Do you know anything about John Bonds serving in the NC House of Commons? Valerie, The only information I have on Lucinda Bond is that she is supposed to be the full sister of my ancestor, Frances Bond, born 25 March 1813, in Franklin County,Georgia. She married Valentine Richard Smith Mayfield (usually known as Smith Mayfield and sometimes as VRS Mayfield). Frances and Smith lived in Campbell County (now part of Fulton County), Georgia. I have from family records the name of your Lucinda Bond and her birthdate as 14 March 1819 in Franklin County, Georgia. Lucinda's first husband was Wiley Henry Jordan and her second husband was John Wesley Carroll. Lucinda and John Wesley Carroll were married in Campbell County, Georgia 10 May 1857. Later in November 1857 they are supposed to have gone by wagon train from Campbell County to Jackson Parish, Louisiana. The wagon master's notes or log of this journey was published in the book "Palmetto: A Town And Its People" sometime in the 1980's and this log was submitted by a Virginia Carroll. Also, The Monroe Morning World, Monroe, Louisiana, Sunday, 18 Aug 1957 page 12C has a report of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of this journey by their descendants. Lucinda Bond is supposed to have died 23 Jun 1870 in Jackson Parish, Louisiana. Lucinda and her first husband, Wiley Henry Jordan had seven children and Lucinda and her second husband had two children. If you have any further information please share it with me. I have what appears to be two different Bond lines (which I believe will eventually prove to be only one family line) and I have not been able to make any real progress on them for ages. If you have any data on a Joseph M. Bond, George Bond, Washington Bond, Robert Bond or Robert P (probably Paxton) Bond please let me know. I hope this has helped you some. Warmest regards, Charlotte Schick
Hi Sharon, My Bonds' line starts with my great grandmother, Mary A. Bonds daughter of Greenberry Bonds. Greenberry Bonds was son of Wright W. Bonds, Sr. Then we are now trying to prove that W. W. Bonds, Sr was the son of John Bonds (a Rev. War soldier). Since your line and mine were both in Tishomingo Co I bet they are connected. W. W. Bonds, Sr had a Livery Stable and Hotel business with a Richard Burress in Leighton, AL 1830-1833. I have a copy of their log book. It is very difficult to read and of course is not indexed. By 1836 both men were in Tishomingo Co MS, Jacinto area. I do not know where W. W. Bonds, Sr lived when he died but some say he lived in the Danville community. I'm searching for a will now that I think someone said was probated in 1854 in Tishomingo Co. Sarah, one of the side branches of my BONDS family moved from Laurens,SC to Tishomingo Co., MS. I believe it was Ritta Bonds, daughter of my Calvin Bonds (brother of my line Richard Bonds). Was your James Wilson Bond named after a Wilson ancestor? Did any of your Bond/Bonds live in Tishomingo Co. MS? Kathy, Thanks for getting back. Maybe someone will get back to us. I dont see a link between your Bonds and mine. Mine were from VA, NC, GA, TN, AR and OK. Good Luck Karen Bond Prince Researching the following families Bond, Bonner, Parks, Smith, Nix, Ring, Harkreader, Trotter, Savell
Golly Karen, I'm sorry I can't help you. I was thanking the submitter of the family Bible information for taking the time to submit it and didn't keep the submitters name. Maybe, they will see your query and respond. Hope so. Katherine P.S.I'm trying to locate John P. Bond who died in Harrison Co, Ohio 1822. His son George Bond of Hancock Co, OH was the adminstrator of his estate, and widow Mary, daughters Orpha and Matilda were mentioned as well as Richard Bond. Haven't been able to determine Richards connection. The farm was sold to Orpha Bond who married William Tipton. The farm was a land patent from Brooke Co. VA to John P Bond. George was born, per the 1850 Census, in MD. and I am trying to trace John back to MD.
Katherine, I missed whoever was sharing a Bond family bible with you. Im listing my Bond family and if anyone has information on this families I would love to hear from you. I have access to the James Wilson Bond and Naomi Wright Bond family bible. Dates start at 1803. The family lived in Grundy Co., TN. Connecting families are: BOND, JONES, JAMES, SAVELL, BONNER, AND NEESE Karen
My Bond family doesn't connect with any of the names in the family Bible, but I thank you for posting them. It was very thoughtful of you. Katherine
