Hello Bond researchers, The family of the elusive Elisha Bond, son of Tabitha and Mastin Bond, is beginning to take form as another daughter is added to the list. I have compared the names of the people who vouched for Tabitha (Bond) Mundy for her Civil War Widows Pension application with the names of Elisha Bond's immediate family and in-laws. There seems to be little doubt that Tabitha was indeed the daughter of Elisha and Sarah (Cross) Bond. The info follows: Delila J. Bond, daughter of Elisha and Sarah, married James S. Austin. In December of 1862 Delila J. Austin vouched for the identity of Tabitha. Mahala C. Bond, daughter of Elisha and Sarah, married William Pullium Bosewell. In 1901 Tabitha applied to reinstate her widow's pension. At that time W.P. Bosewell testified that Tabitha was the widow of Larkin Mundy. John Bosewell swore in December of 1862 that Tabitha was the widow of Larkin Mundy, that he had been intimately aquainted with Larkin and Tabitha for 15 years, and that they had lived together as man and wife before Larkin entered the service. Lydia C. Bond, daughter of Elisha and Sarah, married William Harrison Smith. In December of 1862 John A. Smith testified to the same information as John Bosewell. Phebe Smith testified that she had been personnally aquainted with Larkin and Tabitha Mundy, that she had been present at the birth of each of Tabitha's children, and that the children were the legitimate children of Larkin Mundy. The other daughter of Elisha and Sarah that I am aware of is Sally Bond, born 1848. In 1860 she was living in the household of her sister and brother-in- law, Mahala and Wm. P. Bosewell. There was also a son, Mastin J. "Mack" Bond. He was born 1 April 1852 and died 21 April 1923. According to the 1840 census there is the possibility of at least two additional children - a girl born between 1835 and 1840, and a boy born between 1830 and 1835. Does anyone have any further information about this family? Phyllis in Phoenix leotaphyls@aol.com

Hello Sara, The book "The Bond Family" by L. D. Bond has Ruth's brothers and sisters and their children and grandchildren on down to present day for some of them. It also has information about Ruth's children and grandchildren also. My direct line is Ruth's brother Stephen Bond born about 1750 in Guilford County, North Carolina who married Maiden through their son Benjamin Bond born 30 Jan 1788 who married Elizabeth in Patrick County, Virginia. I will be glad to share any information the book has. Just let me know what you need and I will look it up for you. I am always thrilled to get any piece of information on my line and I am happy to help others get their bits and pieces to the puzzle. Have a great day! Diana Harrell

Hello, Another book "The Bond Family" has been published by L. D. Bond. That book lists the children of John Bond born 21 Apr 1701 in Biddestone, Wilts, England who married Sarah Cadwallander on 29 Mar 1725 in Pennsylvania as follows: Benjamin Bond married Rosana Miller on 13 Oct 1755 in Christ's Church, Pennsylvania. They moved to Goshen, Chester County, in 1762 and became members of Chester Monthly Meeting. Their children were Abraham Bond, Amos Bond, and Elizabeth Bond. Abraham Bond married Elizabeth Cadwallander about 1796 in Buck County, Pennsylvania and Abraham died before 1797. Their children were Levi Bond, John Bond, and Mary Bond. John Bond married Margaret Allen about 1758. They moved to Virginia in 1771 and were both eminent preachers among Friends. Their children were Allen Bond, Hannah Bond, Rebecca Bond, Mary Bond, and V. John Bond. Edward Bond was born 4 Sep 1738 in Pennsylvania and married Mary Fox on 7 Jun 1765. Mary died on 14 Apr 1831. Edward and Mary moved to Virginia in 1778, placing their church membership with Hopewell Monthly Meeting. They were living in Bedford County in 1973, and a few years later moved to Grayson County, Virginia. Mary was thought to be 88 years old when she died. Their children were Susan Bond born 27 Mar 1766, Sarah Bond born 5 Oct 1767, Mary Bond born 22 Aug 1769, Benjamin Bond born 26 May 1771 and married Susannah Allen about 1794 in Shenandoah County, Alice Bond born 23 May 1773, Martha Bond born 28 May 1775, Elizabeth Bond born 23 May 1778, Ruth Bond born 22 Feb 1781, Hannah Bond born 3 Feb 1783, and Levi Bond born 7 Feb 1785. Isaac Bond married Jane Williams. Their children were Rebecca Bond and Mary Bond. Isaac Bond also married Lydia. Their children were Joshua Bond born 18 Apr 1788, Isreal Bond born 18 Dec 1789, Abraham Bond born 1 Apr 1792, Susley Bond born 2 Apr 1798, and Reuben Bond born 5 Sep 1801. Hannah Bond--no information is listed for Hannah. There was no Harman Bond (1801-1880) listed in the book. I hope this helps. I am a descendent of Joseph Bond and Martha Rogers. I would like to know if anyone has any information on William L. Bond born about 1846 who married Caroline Dalton on 23 Dec 1869. Their children were Iona (Eliz) Bond born 22 Nov 1870, Isaac Bond born 7 Mar 1873, Nancy J. Bond born about 1875 and married Robert Hill on 3 Aug 1894, Dillie Bond born about 1878 and married Augustus O. Bishop on 9 Jul 1894, and Floyd M. Bond born 4 Apr 1884. I'm looking for descendants of John BOND, born 21 Second Month (April), 1701, in Wiltshire, England. He was given a certificate from Lavington Monthly Meeting in England to Chester Monthly Meeting near Philadelphia on 25 Tenth Month (December), 1721. In Pennsylvania, he married Sarah CADWALADER between 22 Twelfth Month (February), 1724/25, and 29 First Month (March), 1725. All this is from a Bond genealogy by Garrett S.B. Bond that was published about the turn of the century. I recently found a copy in the New York Public Library. In addition to an older brother, Edward, who apparently did not emigrate, John had a brother Joseph BOND (b. 1704) who "by tradition" emigrated to Pennsylvania about 1735 and joined Abington Monthly Meeting where he married Martha ROGERS. All three Bond boys were sons of Benjamin BOND and Ann PARADISE of Bewley, Wiltshire, England, who married 20 Second Month, 1686. Benjamin was the son of Edward Bond. Garrett Bond's book follows Joseph Bond who later moved to North Carolina. I'm interested in John Bond's line because I'm looking for the antecedents of Harman Bond (1801-1880) who lived in East Whiteland Township, Chester County, PA. Any takers? Mark E. Dixon Wayne, PA

Looking for ancestry of Temperance Bond, ca. 1770-1830. Married to Stephen Andrew Mack ca.1800. Her parents are Reverend Stephen Bond and Mary Yemmons. I cannot find ancestry of either of these partents. All help is appreciated. Londroche@bigfoot.com
Hi Bond researchers, It has been published that Tabitha Bond, widow of Mastin Bond, married Larkin Munday on 30 May 1852 in Hamilton County, Illinois. Thanks to Jean Bushnell, a Mundy researcher, I now have evidence that shows that this Tabitha was not the widow of Mastin. Larkin Mundy died during the Civil War. In December of 1862, his widow Tabitha filed a pension application in which she stated the following: That she was 29 years old. That she married Larkin Mundy 30 May 1852 in Hamilton County, Illinois. That her name before this marriage was Tabitha Bond. Based on this evidence it is obvious that the Tabitha Bond who married Larkin Mundy on 30 May 1852 could not have been the widow of Mastin Bond, as she would have been 70 years old in 1862.
