I did forget to put my location didn't I. I live in Ohio, I'm not sure if the Heinz were from here or not. My grandfather was from Ludlow Falls area of Ohio. I am having a lot of trouble finding this side of my family. Any help would be appreciated. Sandy Bond Long
I just found out from my uncle Steven Bond that he had grandparents named Heinz. He is in bad health and I could not get much from him as he was medicated. I had never heard of a connection to that name before. He said his grandfathers name was John but he couldn't remember the grandmothers name. He had a picture on the wall and said that John was over a hundred in it. Has anyone else found a connection to Heinz in their Bond lines? Sandy Bond Long

Jan, You seem to have many BONDs 'found' for your 'family tree'. How would I go about researching my generations of BONDs who appear to be from LI & Commack, NY > CT >CA? I have a death cert for my g-grandfather George S. BOND (b. in Commack, NY 1835 & d. Fairfield CT 1913) and has his father(my gg-grandfather) as b. in L.I., N.Y.. I cannot read the handwriting to be able to decipher his given name but I think is is Alyne BOND. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.....Thanks! Alexis
Hi Herbert, Nope, sorry - I don't know about any epidemics in Hood County Texas, but if it's like most states, when the flux hit, whole families sometimes died. I couldn't help but notice your unusual first name, Vernard. My dad's and grandfather's name is Vernon. While not as unusual as yours, I find the similarities intriguing. Looking for anyone related to the BONDs of Dooly County, Georgia: Samuel P. (presumeably Perham) BOND (1803-1882) and his wife, Quintina (1810-?) ? They had 5 children: Cornelia V (1830-1924) m. Lucius A YOUNG Edward L (1835-1886) m. Georgia Ann WOOTEN Beverly Jane (1840-1907) m. Enos J YOUNG (brother of Lucius) Jonlicius/James U (1843-1870) m. Fanny R LOVEJOY Samue H (1849-1879), never married. Many thanks, Debbie
The name Vernard was originally given to my grandfather who was born in Wise Co., Virginia in the 1890's. I do not know (but have been searching for) its derivation. I read somewhere that it is the Saxon version of the Germanic Victor. I have noted that there are a number of other Vernard's from this part of the world (SW Virginia, East Tennessee), but none can tell me the name origin. I've always liked it since it's somewhat distinctive (but hate the name Vern) - so I gave it to my oldest boy, Vernard, IV. Debbie, Talk about unusual names......my father's was Vard. Wish I knew if it was a family name. His mother was Mary Frances "Mollie" Bonds b. abt 1856......do not know anything else about her and can't seem to find anything on her. My brick wall!!! Anyway, passed the name onto my #2 son......named him Vard Patrick.......and of course he goes by Pat.......hated the name Vard when he was in school.......said the kids called him "Lardy Vardy". If you ever run across a Mary Frances "Mollie" Bonds, would appreciate hearing from you. <ginman@connectcorp.net> Virginia Nichols Manning
Thanks for this information, Hebert. Isaac M. BOND is Isaac Marion BOND, born in 1841 to William Wellington BOND, II and Elizabeth GREEAR. Isaac is a great uncle of mine. Other information that I have indicates that Isaac died while a POW. It doesn't mention the camp. It evidently was not Camp Chase. Hebert Jones wrote: > Isaac M. Bond: 1st Lt. , Co. B. I would like to make a apology to all on the BOND-L mailing list. I got all my information mixed up. 1863 is the correct dates and this is form information about the 7th battalion Confederate Cavaley of Virginia, Civil War Era. All this can be found at: ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/va/civilwar/va7th.txt There is a history of the Battalion, its Commanders, and a short narrative of the battle at Piketon, KY. plus a rooster of the men that servied. Hope all will except my apology for getting everyone confuss. Herbert Jones
Phyllis, Why did your BONDS come here?...and who did they know?...and who were their relatives here, if any?....where did they settle after they arrived?.....and where did the family move to after that, if they did? Just wondering...and trying to make a connection...thanks...akj
The dates should be 1763 not 1863. My mistake. Sorry about that Happy New Years Herbert Jones
Hi, have followed the conversation about the Bond family......I am searching for one, Mary Frances "Mollie" Bonds/Bond b. abt. 1856. This is my maternal grandmother. Have no way of knowing if the name is Bonds or Bond, as I know absolutely nothing about her. I know she was married to a Hugh Watson Nichols, b. 1851 AR and they were living in Frankling Co. AR on February 14, 1887 when my father, Vard Rollin Nichols was born. Can anyone out there help me. ginny <ginman@connectcorp.net> Virginia Nichols Manning

Can you give any dates on these inscriptions? Most I know of were in US late 1600 and 1700s. Thanks, Joy At 01:40 PM 12/29/98 -0800, you wrote: >At Ellis Island, there is a Wall Of Honour.
