    2. As long as you are welcoming new Bonds, can I put myself in the loop? I am descended from John Bond, who married Susannah Wade in Halifax County, VA in 1780. They moved to Washington, Co., KY maybe 1800. I have received, through new Internet cousins, a lot of information about John's descendants. I am descended through Mastin, Richard, Samuel, and Oscar, who was adopted out after his mother died giving birth to him and his deceased twin, and ended up with a German immigrant family in Chicago and a new name (William Pilz). I have a lot of information about Susannah Wade's family, since it was prominent in Halifax County, but NOTHING about John. The Wades seem to be intermarried at several points with a family named HAMPTON. Can anyone help me? There are a lot of John Bonds in VA in the 1700's. I think my John may have been related to a Wright Bond who lived in Halifax Co. VA at the same time. Wright appears to be descended from a Bond family in Cumberland County, VA. One of Wright's nephews, also named Wright (there are three altogether, the uncle and two nephews from different brothers) moved to Anderson Co., KY, which is adjacent to Washington Co., and also adjacent to Mercer Co., KY, which has a town called "Bondville" in it. The younger Wrights appear to have served in the Rev War. Ancestry.com mixes one of these up with the elder Wright, who is descended from William and Ann Bond of Cumberland County. The elder Wirght had an ordinary license in Halifax Co in the 1750's and the younger Wrights were born 1755 and 1759, so they can't be the same. Any information about John BOND married to Susannah WADE in Halifax Co. 1780, would be apprecuated! Thank you, Alice Pilz

    2. William, I sent the information from the trunk on the Bonds. Paul Bowen is on the Bond List and may reply to this. If he doesn't I will send him an email and find out how he obtained the information. I do know that his Bond desc. came from Wise County, VA. I have lots of information on our Virginia Bonds. If you will let me know what you are researching, I will be happy to check my files. I have searched and searched for William W. Bond's (born 1776) parents or siblings but cannot come up with anything. I searched the Quaker Records from Amherst County and North Carolina. I thought he might be the son of a Charles Bond who moved to Georgia but his son, Billy, died before our William was born and so it goes!!! Please keep in touch. Would love to exchange information. 2. Welcome, William to the Bond List. It is interesting that some of the descendants of William W. Bond, Amherst County went to Oklahoma. This is great to connect to another cousin. I am posting this to the list since I now find there are a lot more cousins on this list related to William W. Bond and Margaret Davis than I thought. The following was found in an old Bond trunk. I can not take credit for this. Paul Bowen sent this to me and it is hand written. I will type it as it appears on the handwritten copy with no spelling corrected: Famely Record of old Bond Family Charles Bond Born Sept 11, 17911 John Bond Born Aprile 15, 1796 George Bond Born August 17, 1799 Polley Bond Born November 28, 1801 Betsey Bond Born February 17, 1883 William Bond Born June 5, 1806 Nancy Bond Born March 15, 1809 Nancy Murphey Born June 18, 1829 William L. 3. This was sent to another list I'm on, and I thought it worth passing along. For you who are veterans of email lists, this might be old information. But, for those of you who haven't been a Subscriber during previous holidays, let me give you a hint at what is about to happen. Starting very soon since Santa, among others, has delivered new computers, internet service, and genealogy gifts (software) to a host of new rooters! We will be having an influx of NEW subscribers to all the lists. This is GOOD! But while you will see new cousins, friends, and contacts coming on-line, joining email lists, posting surnames to databases, they will be asking all those questions you have seen posted over and over again. Unfortunate as it may be, new users mean we have to reinvent the wheel all over again! *Grin* Please welcome the "newbies" to our lists, have PATIENCE with them, help them and hopefully send them in the right direction. For a month or so (perhaps til the end of January) it will be helpful if we can refrain from using a lot of initials and abbreviations in our responses. For example, when discussing the FHC, lets all take a couple of seconds to type "Family History Center," and give an explanation of who, what, where, when. Please don't assume that EVERYONE knows what it is, or has one near them. I can't stress enough how important your patience and help is for the next month or two. Mistakes will be made, (like posting a message that is blank, or no subject line, or leaving entire digests in replies) and questions will be asked like "What is the FHC, what is the SSDI, what is, can you explain, where do I find, etc...Remember that these were once OUR errors and OUR questions. We were all new once, and many current subscribers are still learning, so let's continue the spirit of cooperation throughout the year. I feel certain that our list will not have rudeness or flip answers If you have a problem with an individual, please keep it OFF the list (either email the person privately, or contact me). This list is about helping each other. Let's be specific and clear in our responses to folks, and give a little extra in explanations. Also keep in mind that new subscribers may know nothing about computers, the internet, and genealogy, resulting in many extremely inexperienced researchers. I hope we do not have questions regarding computers, software, etc, but if one does pop up, please respond to these questions off list if at all possible. REMEMBER these new researchers may have file cabinets full of information regarding YOUR own family tree, so let's be as cordial, helpful and informative as we can be! You might also re-post your family lines towards the end of January for all of our "newbies" to see......just in case they connect. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!
