    2. Mary D. Taffet
    3. Hello subscribers, I don't have as much time to spend on genealogy and the mailing lists as I used to, so I haven't yet had an opportunity to ask if any of the subscribers would be interested in having another mailing list hosted by groups.io, which is where most of the current Rootsweb mailing lists are going to. Please reply if you are interested in having another Boice surname mailing list hosted by groups.io. -- Thank you,      Mary D. Taffet      Rootsweb List Admin for BOICE

    1. [BOICE] Boice mailing list is back in operation
    2. Mary D. Taffet
    3. Hello subscribers, You may be aware that some time ago, most of Rootsweb was taken offline so that the software, and perhaps the hardware, running the various resources could be upgraded.  The mailing lists have been back for a while now, under new mailing list software. For this new system, you will have to re-register in order to send a message to the mailing list, unless you have already done so since March.  Instructions for re-registering can be found here: <http://home.rootsweb.ancestry.com/listindexes/listsHelp> The old mailing list archives will be restored at some point, but once there are new messages to archive, the new mailing list archive will be created and functional. I invite all mailing list subscribers to post their research interests for the Boice surname. -- Mary D. Taffet     List admin for BOICE mailing list

    2. Mary D. Taffet via
    3. Hello subscribers, Due to a major change in how message board posts are formatted and sent via email, the gatewayed message board posts that are now being addressed to the mailing lists are no longer being delivered easily. Until the system gets changed so that it can handle the new message format of emailed message board posts, I have little choice but to simply post a link to any new message board posts here to the list. The following link: <http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.boice/226/mb.ashx> leads to a message with the subject line "William John Boice...or Boyce". If you wish to read the message, please click on the link. Hopefully they'll get this sorted out eventually... -- Mary D. Taffet List admin for BOICE

    1. [BOICE] Jacob Boice & Mary S. Bradbury Russell Boice - missing daughter Mary
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Gen_Deb56 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.boice/222/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Researching Mary's son Joseph Newton Russell. He died two days after marrying Catherine Russell. Surprisingly, at the age of 27, he left a will. He leaves 1/2 of his estate to his niece, Mary Elizabeth Whitten, daughter of his sister Mary. I find them in the 1850 census of Fulton County, Illinois (Mr. Whitten apparently deceased by then), and 11 month old William Whitten. Newton lists Neice Mary as being left in the care of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hamilton, so Sister Mary must be deceased by then (1855). I cannot find Niece Mary or her brother William anywhere other than 1850 census. My bigger question is about Sister Mary. Is she his "full" sister or half sister? Was Jacob Boice married before marrying the widow Russell (Mother Mary)? I could have sworn I saw somewhere that he was but cannot find it now. Sister Mary's birthdate is 1826 (ancestry.com's index has her birthday wrong but a close look at the digitalized record sure looks like age 24 to me, plus son Williams age is listed as 11 where the written record clearly lists 11 months.) Mother Mary's 1830 census record does not allow for Mary. Was she just missed? Jacob Boice does not have a record of his own in 1830 that I could find, was he part of the numeration for his father? Am also extremely interested in talking with anyone who has brought any of the lines of Mother Mary's children forward. None of her kids (with Joseph Russell) lived past age 34 and this husband died at age 30. Did her children with Jacob Boice live longer? What about longevity for grandchildren? What happened to the Whitten kids? Newton Russell talks about how sick he is in his will... Thank you for any input - ~Debbie~ Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
