Hi Carl, I saw your listing on the Bohn discussion group e-mail. I had previously been looking for a marriage for a Daniel or Charles Daniel Bohn. After a little research last week back in Licking County Ohio and at the Ohio Historical Society. I have verified that the family I was looking for was a Samuel Bohn who married a Lucinda Moore. According to the records I found Samuel and Lucinda had 3 children one was my g grandfather who was born 1883 in IL his name was Charles Daniel Bohn. Charles Daniel Bohn died 2 Jul. 1910 in Columbus OH and is buried in Newark OH. Lucinda (Moore) Bohn is also buried at the same cemetery it is called Cedar Hill. The Information I got from the library in Newark OH was that the parents of Lucinda (Moore) Bohn were Daniel Moore and Elizabeth______. If any one has any information on the marriage of Samuel Bohn and Lucinda Moore and or the Birth of there children I would appreciate any information available. Additionally according to the Newark City directory 1907 to 1908 there is a listing for Bohn, Lucinda (widow of Samuel) and the address was 179 Central Ave. Newark OH. Lucinda died in Lucas County Ohio on the Nov. 24, 1929 she was 95 years old. Her death certificate says she was born 4 Apr 1884. Birthplace of the father is listed as PA and the birthplace for her mother is listed as OH. I had heard from my grandfather that his father was from around Monticello IL. Looking forward to your reply. Robert Lee Vance El Paso TX
Our Bohn discussion list has been rather quiet lately. Now that summer's over, perhaps it's tiem to rejuvenate the discussion! We have a few new members. Please introduce yourselves, if you'd like, and fill us in on your family lines. And for everyone: Who is your most wanted Bohn ancestor? For me: I'd love to find the parents of Philip Jacob Bohn, born 1732, died abt 1780. Also the birthdates of his wife, Maria Elizabeth (and *her* parents). Do any of you know the whereabouts of Ruby Janot Bohn (b. 1932), daughter of Charles Corwin Bohn (b. 1875 in Illinois) and his second wife, Pearl Hann/Harm? Ruby is my mother's first cousin, and my mother has expressed an interest in contacting her. BTW: I have the original handwritten "autobiography" of Charles Corwin Bohn, and an original letter from his father, Adam Bohn. I'd be glad to share copies. Do any of you know the whereabouts of Ruby Janot Bohn, daughter of Charles Corwin Bohn (1875- ??) and Pearl Hann/Harm? She is my mother's cousin. My mother has expressed an interest in making contact again, so I thought I'd try to find her. Unfortunately, we don't have a married name. I *do*, however, have a short handwritten "autobiography" by Charles Corwin Bohn, as well as a letter from Adam Bohn, Charles' father--also handwritten. I'd be happy to share copies. I am looking for any information on a Daniel Bohn and a Lucinda______? from Licking County Ohio, originally they were from Illinois they were probably married around 1883. Does any body have any marriage information on this couple. They had a son named Charles Daniel Bohn who is buried in Newark Ohio. He is my great grandfather. Any information on his parents marriage or his mothers maiden name would be appreciated thank you. Robert Lee Vance El Paso TX

Thought some of you would be interested in Candy's information. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: 29 Aug 97 12:47:16 EDT From: Candy Roth <74243.1612@CompuServe.COM> To: loisl@wam.umd.edu Subject: BAHN/BOHN Hi Lois: I really appreciate your information on the BAHN/BOHN families - there are several families in this Kreutz Creek area that are 'mine' and it seems there are hardly any descendants! Given the size of the families I've been able to document, perhaps it's just that the 'genealogical bug' hasn't bitten many of those descendants! I do have the article from the York Dispatch - about the only one I've ever seem pub. on these families! I would love to have copies of any of the other material you mention - always looking for slivers and pieces! My snail mail is: PO Box 43, Rodanthe, NC 27968. After November it's: 9572 Millbrook Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45231. We have a restaurant here on the Outer Banks of NC and are looking forward to the end of tourist season this weekend! Primarily, for me, because I'm too busy to devote the hours I do in the off-season to this genealogical passion!!! One of the greatest sources I have for my material is"Annals of the Bahn, Libhart and Harbaugh Families in America - 1731-1870" by Rachel Bahn, poetress and record keeper for this family. I'll be happy to send it to you if you'd like to have it. Since Cassandra m Henry STRICKLER is from this gang, it may be of interest to you as well. Heaven help me, I'm directly descended from all three of these referenced families in one way of another! Rachel was a sister of Cassandra. Basically, this is how the BAHN line comes down for me: Frederick BAHN - father of: John Henry BAHN b 1708 Germany d Nov 1768 Hellam, York, PA bur 1768 Luthern Cem., Shrewsbury, York, PA md. I am researching a Bohn family that first appears in the United States in 1845. The family originally settled in the Chicago area (Naperville, DuPage Co IL), but relocated "downstate" to the Shelbyville/Effingham area between 1860 and 1870. The first mention of the Donat Bohn family is in a New York Passanger list for the Ship Diadem which arrived in New York on 18 July 1845 from "Havre". The arriving family is listed as follows:: Donald Bohn 36 M farmer France Aurene Bohn 33 F " Fignane Bohn 8 M (listed in subsequent records as Nelson Bohn) Joseph Bohn 6 M Donald Bohn 3 M Louis Bohn 2 M The baptismal records of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Naperville IL list a daughter, Sohia Bohn, born to Donati Bohn and Crescentainato Adrian in July 1853 (record in Latin). Thus, the family appears to have been Roman Catholic. "Donat Boehn" (French citizen) was naturalized in DuPage Co IL in June 1855. U.S. census records list birthplace of the family members as "Alsace". Although French citizens, the family settled in heavily-German areas, and were presumably of German descent. Donat (1809-1889) and "Cruseintia" Bohn (abt 1809-1888) are buried in the Stewardson Cemetery, Shelby Co IL. I would be very interested in knowing where in Alsace the family originated. By the same token, if anyone would like additional, post-1845 information on this family, I will be more than happy to share what I have. Many thanks. Carl Moore (Chicago)
Peter: Thanks for the post on the Bohn information. Did you happen to talk to any of the local residents about the iron letters on the stone wall? Is it possible to contact someone in the area, who might have information? I look forward to seeing the photo.
