Greetings, Bohn researchers: We have, indeed, been quiet lately! I'd like to pass on the address for a new genealogy homepage http://members.aol.com/familyhart/PADUTCHgenONLY/ The page is hosted by Don Hartman, the listowner of a new discussion list, PADUTCHgenONLY-L. The PA Dutch page links to a list of surnames and researchers. Since the U.S. Bohn family, at least, is connected to many Pennsylvania Dutch families, you may be interested in visiting the page--or joining PADUTCHgenONLY-L. Does anyone know whether this BOUGHAN family, which includes Richard, Vincent, and Mordecai BOUGHAN, might be a different spelling of BOHN? We have all three purchasing land in Culpeper Co. in 1765, but can find absolutely nothing prior to that purchase. They must have been at least 21 by then in order to sign the legal papers. Can someone tell me the origin of the BOHN family name? Any help would be gratefully appreciated. TIA, Sally TWEED BAUGHN CBAUGHN@aol.com
My grandparents came to USA from Pommern, Germany in Spring of 1889. Names: Albert A Bohn, born May 21, 1863 Mathilda (Kasuska) Bohn born Sept 22, 1865 They were married in 1887. They first came to Marshall County, Minnesota, and then moved to Grant County in South Dakota in the fall of 1889. Information which I have found indicates that they were naturalized in Pennsylvania and I assume that was when they first arrived in the USA. I have no information relative to their parents names. Any help you can furnish will be appreciated. Thank you.
Did you receive any feedback from the Bohn-L group? You might try the National Archives pension records for WWI,if they are publicly available. You will notice that the subject lines for Bohn-L messages are now "prepended" with [Bohn-L]. My purpose in choosing this option for the subject line is to help you easily identify incoming messages. (I, for one, get lots of messages and sometimes can't figure out which list they have been posted to--until I open them.) Also, prepending the list names allows us to be more specific in our subject lines--that is, we don't always have to put the name Bohn in the subject. It will automatically appear. > Lois Kleinhenn Lanier <loislanier@erols.com> Listowner: Bohn, Kleinhenn, Lanier, Sisler Genealogy Discussion Lists Subscribe at <http://www.rootsweb.com/> Support Rootsweb.

I just found a reference to a John F. Bohn in the WW 1 Draft Registrations. 7/24 1894 born Austria WW1 registeration in Dist #2 NY, NY. Can anyone make a connection with this info? This is the first real lead I have had. Can anyone tell me how to get copy of this record? Thanks.
I'm looking for information regarding my gggrandfather, Nicholas BOHN, born April 8, 1851 somewhere in Germany (possibly Berlin or Frankfort?). His death certificate lists his father's name as Anthony BOHN, also born in Germany. Nicholas moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he married Anna Marie BUSE (or BUSSE) and had 3 daughters - Anna Marie, Geneva, and Louise. Would love to hear from anyone possibly researching the same family. Thanks, Susan Knight rknight@compuserve.com
To Dean, That was a good list of Bohns. I have an Adam Bohn and the only information I have about him is that his daughter Maria Rosina Bohn married Adam Folmer on 25 Feb 1782, possibly in Lehigh Co., PA. Could he be connected to your Bohns? Thanks, Margaret Cass cassm@voicenet.com

And here's MY Bohn line: I am descended from Philip Jacob Bohn (I haven't documented this to my complete satisfaction). He was boran in 1732 in Germany and died about 1780 in York Co, PA. He md. Maria Elizabeth ? And, briefly, the rest of the lineage (which I have documented better): Johann Valentine Bohn (1759-1814) md. Catharine Hollinger (d. 1825) Valentine Bohn (1793-1854) md. Barbara Strickler (1796-1837) md 2. Mrs. Eliz. Bostwick Adam Bohn (s/o Barbara) (1817-1881) md Hannah Stouffer Emmert (1834-1898) Frank Carlos Bohn (1859-1928) md. Wilda Jenny Knapp (1873-1943) Carl Frank Bohn (1895-1988) md. Pearl LaVonne Gilbert (1893-1982) Coila Genevieve Bohn (1920-) md. Charles Melvin Kleinhenn (1915- ) Lois Annette Kleinhenn (1949 - )md. C. Danny Lanier (1948 - ) C. David Lanier (1988 - ) What's really driving me crazy is trying to document Philip Jacob Bohn and to locate documentation of his arrival in the U.S. Then, I could trace him back to Europe. Lois L. Happy New Year! As 1998 opens, we have several new subscribers. I think it would be great for some of us repost, briefly, our lineages. Thank you, Carol B., for doing just that. Yes, I know you can look at the archives and find all the information. However, this list has been really quiet lately; reposting and/or adding new information might liven things up again. And, new members: Don't be shy. We'd love to hear from you. We're kind of a quiet group, but we *will* respond to messages. Lois L.
