Johann Adam Bohn had a daughter Maria Rosina Bohn who married Adam Follmer on 25 Feb. 1782, possibly in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. She possibly died in Northumberland County, PA. It's been rather quiet on Bohn-L, despite new members joining us. I thought it might be of interest to introduce ourselves and our Bohn connections--voluntarily, of course. My name is Lois Kleinhenn Lanier. My mother is a Bohn--Iowa raised. My earliest documentd Bohn ancester is Philip Jacob Bohn (1732-1780), probably born in Germany (but where?), married to Maria Elizabeth. They lived in York County, PA, but the family moved into Franklin County, PA and then out to Illinois and Iowa. In a message dated 7/12/98 10:14:47 AM Central Daylight Time, loislanier@erols.com writes: << BOHN CHARL 1858 Iowa 40.0000 BOHN CHARLES 1858 Iowa 80.0000 >> This is starting to make sense...but I am just guessing.... It "looks" like "maybe" Charles bought land in Iowa and brought ALL his brother's and sisters over to this country. Then once established, the rest ventured out or worked his (Charles') land. Charles' Brother Gottlieb is my ancestor. I am only assuming this because the 1870 Census put Gottlieb and his family as one entry and then the next dwelling (number) and family (number) contains Charles, Caroline - Keeping Home, 4 other adults (Christopher, Frists, Christina, Caroline) and two children (Mina and William)-I am assuming Charles' children. Gottlieb lost a child during the voyage to America dated 1858 which is the same year listed to Charles acquiring land according to the above listing. Am I to assume I am on the right track....or does anyone have any other suggestions. What would some suggest to me my next step in proving my "theory". Nancy E. Suby-Bohn

RootsWeb has a new policy effective immediately. They will no longer accept messages in any format other than plain text (also known as pure ascii). If your e-mail to this list starts "bouncing" back to you, then you will have to make a change in the way your e-mail set up is configured in your computer. If this causes you any problems, I will try to forwad your messages to the list. Below is a sample of the message you will receive from the RootsWeb System if your computer is not configured properly. I will also be notified. >Hi -- >The message you submitted to this list wasn't >sent to the list subscribers. RootsWeb accepts only plain text >mail. That means that HTML mail, attachments, ``enriched text'', >and a few other formats can't be sent to RootsWeb mailing lists. >You can post your message if you send it in plain text; turn off >the ``Post in HTML'' or ``Enriched Text'' features of your mail >reader, or don't use any attachments. My 2nd great-grandfather was Nicholas Bohn, born 1850 in Gamshurst, Baden, Germany. He emigrated to the US in 1879, and died in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1912. Nicholas was the son of Anton Bohn, born 1816 in Gamshurst, and Petronella Volz, born 1821 in Gamshurst. Anton was the son of Meinrad Bohn, born 1777 in Gamshurst, and Johanna Koch, born 1780 in Gamshurst. Meinrad was the son of Anton Bohn, born 1752 in Gamshurst, and Franziska Weiler, born 1752 in Zell, Baden. Anton was the son of Joseph Bohn, born 1729 in Oberbruch, Baden, and Maria Elisabeth Volmer, born 1732 in Gamshurst. Joseph was the son of Josef Bohn and Maria Anna Sitter, married in 1727 in Lieberstung, Baden. If any of these names look familiar, or if you are researching the Bohn surname in this area of Baden, I'd love to hear from you! Susan Knight rknight@compuserve.com
Do you have any Bohn achievements? Here's the first contribution: My great-uncle Roy Bohn and his wife Hazel Hartsock Bohn celebrated their 70th (yes, 70th!) wedding anniversity on January 13, 1998. Two of their nieces (my mother is one) travelled from Indiana to the Wisconsin gathering; both nieces have been married for more than 50 years. Imagine. Congratulations Uncle Roy and Aunt Hazel! Can't remember if I sent this message before or not, but here it is. I have a list of Bohns from the Wuerttemberg Emigration Index. Earliest birthdateis 1815; lastest birthdate is 1878. Dates of application for emigration are between 1849 and 1887. These are people emigrating FROM Wuerttemberg. If anyone would like me to do a quick lookup on any of these BOHNs, let me know.
