Yes, my father told us we were cherokee too. I forgot to add that to my query. My father looks cherokee as did his father and my g-grandf. Have you seen the book cherokee blood and it's mention of John Boggs and a family of 14 cherokees? Also someone told me of a land deed for a John Boggs who signed his native name as "Tauchuluna". I too found that there are still some Cherokee named Boggs today. Do you have anything on them? My father was from Harlan Co. Ky. grandf from Lee co. Va. gr-grandf from Wise Co. Va. Their wives maiden names seem to have cherokee connections as well...Witt, ..Parsons ...King...Lewis ...to name a few. Do you have any possible connection to these names ? My grandf. name was Judge findlay Boggs. His father was a Levi boggs...there seem to be a lot of Levi Boggs' out there. Mine died in 1956.
