    3. Dave Church, you being in Kingston probably know all about this, but for the rest of you, I have Lemuel S. Boggs's copy of "Histories of the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church" in Kingston, Ohio, and it includes two brief mentions of the Boggs family, to wit: "In 1799, John Rolins, John McLane, Hugh Menary and James Stewart with their families, and Mrs. Isabella Denny, wife of James Denny, and Mrs. Sally Boggs, wife of John Boggs, joined the church. But all of them, except the last mentioned, soon removed out of its bounds...." "The old meeting house was never intirely (sic) finished, and soon became uncomfortable. In a few years a school house was erected near it, in which preaching and prayer meetings were often held. Meetings were often in a grove near this house, and in families. On the Plains those meetings were usually held at the house of John Ball or John Boggs, and when near the old church, in William McCoy's house or barn...." Rev. Stearns, who wrote the history for the first 50-year celebration of the church, has more than passing interest to me because the Stearns married into the Boggs line about mid-1800s. (I thought the fact that Isaac Stearns, one of the 40 men who took Fort Ticonderoga with Ethan Allen, being related would give me some clout with the Vermont locals. Nope. Dream on, Perry.) R.
