    3. HUGH BOGGS, Born October 25, 1801 and his wife HANNAH BLEVINS are buried on the right hand fork of Cains Creek at the Hen Boggs cemetery, near Blaine in Lawrence Co. Ky. HUGH the son of John O. Boggs and Nancy Wells is directly related to so many of us in the Boggs family. With the permission of Bev. the Boggs-L listowner I we would like to make an appeal to you for funds to replace the headstone for Hugh and Hannah. On a trip to Blaine last summer I was taken to the Hen Boggs cemetery by Mr. Ray Williams who owns the property where the cemetery is located. Mr. Williams is near 80 years old and is a life long resident of Cains Creek, and Great Grandson of Hugh and Hannah. Ray told me of his plan to cut a big White Oak tree that stands over the grave site and start a fund to replace the headstones. The original stone is made of native sandstone and has weathered to the point of being almost unreadable. The graves of our Pioneer ancestors will be lost to future generations if we who care of such things today, do not make a difference. I ask Mr. Williams not to cut that big tree until I could make an appeal to you folks to see if we could raise the funds needed. It would be a shame to loose that tree from the Cemetery. At the Boggs reunion on Cains Creek in September a collection was taken to start this fund. A total of $ 152.00 was collected. Mr. Williams donated $ 50.00 and his sister another $ 50.00 for a total of $ 252.00. My wife Linda and I would like to start this appeal with a donation of $ 100.00. the goal is to have a dedication of the new headstone at the Boggs reunion in September, 1999. I believe that part of what we are all about is not just finding who our ancestors were but also to preserve our past for future generations. I would like for my Grand Children to walk to that spot on the hillside some Spring when the Dogwood and Redbud are in bloom, as I did last Spring and know that some folks before them cared. I will bank all funds received and will (With the givers permission) post on the Boggs List the name of the giver and the amount of each donation. PLEASE CONSIDER A DONATION. IT WILL BE SOMETHING WE CAN ALL BE PROUD OF. Mail Donations to: Dave Church 29859 Jackson Rd. Kingston, Ohio 45644. If you have questions you may email me at [email protected] or phone (740) 655-2725. Thank you for your consideration; Dave
