Dear List, What is Dow's first name? I have it as above from more than one source and different spellings from same sources. Marriage date: I have REGINA SARGENT m. October 20, 1869 & Regina Sargent or (Sargeant) on 10-02-1869 in Wise Co, VA. This is probably a transportation error in the date of marriage. I have never liked the use of numbers for month /day. For 27 years I worked in a system that used day-month-year. Now I am in a world that uses month-day-year. I find that folks (me at least) get a bit confused when there are no comparison dates. If 1-11-1869 is used, it could very well stand for two different dates. 1 November 1869, is difficult to confuse. It keeps numbers separated & the text is clear. I have always used a cut/copy/paste approach to my editing process. This way, I know that this was the precise data received on my end.
