Dear Alan, Go to mwmccl@juno.com Her name is Merna: I would encourage you to Order her CD. This is not my Branch but is a part of my Line. I ordered her family disk from her, as I was into a similar situation of conflicting data. You still may find conflicting information, but this will certainly provide you with a good base line. Please get back to me for data exchange, as I am one of those people with an addiction for Boggs Family (any & all) genealogy. I willingly share any & all of my data with persons of like mind. Your William Washington Boggs family connection is on page 84,Vol VI, No. 3, July 1983, Boggs Newsletter, A C Grady, Pub/Ed. His parents were Peter Boggs, b. 1782, m. 3 Jan 1802 Orange Co, NC, Polly Iseley. The contributor was a Mr. Donald Upchurch, 803 Vance St. Paragould, AR. 72450. (Alice Grady, believes that Peter Boggs, was a son of John Boggs & Eve Springer, who was a brother of James L. Boggs m. Elizabeth Clemmet & Phebe Boggs, m. John Flannery, & references Vol I, Boggs Newsletter 1978). This appears to be right, as I have the connection entered in my files. Anyway, your William Washington Boggs, stuck in my mind as that was my fathers name. Donald lists his line down to him. I was searching data on one Lilburn W. Boggs, when I ran into your Washington. Keep in mind that the data from Donald was 17 years ago this past July. Regards, John Andrew Boggs PS: I should have looked at my John Boggs/Mary Keys file before I sent this message. I have the connection already entered. I just need to incorporate Donald's data, then we can share if you so desire. How did you end up with two Boggses as your ggg grandfathers? How is Thomas connected? ----- Original Message ----- From: "rumarie" <mizdiz@netpath.net> To: <BOGGS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, June 09, 2000 8:47 AM Subject: [BOGGS-L] Washington Boggs, 1800s, NC > Looking for the parents of William Washington Boggs, b. abt 1821. > Married in 1847 in Chatham county NC to Phebe Holaday. Dear Boggs researchers, I guess Pleasant and Emma Henshaw Boggs had a son Charles , b. mar 1886, he married Mary Rhodes 1905. I'd imagine he's the Charles on the deed. Thanks, Kara
Dear Boggs researchers, I was just looking back over a Jackson Co., WV deed between Pleasant Boggs and Nelson O. Bowker and Mary Bowker dated 23 AUG 1905. Pleasant is listed as Trustee for Charles Boggs. Who is this Charles? Could it be Charles, son of Marmaduke and Charity Vandal Boggs? Thanks for any help. Kara

Wow, What a nasty case. Three of James Clendenin Boggs sons are- William M., James A., & William M. William M. Boggs' son is John Alexander. Elliot is John Alexander Boggs' Son. Sounds like Uncles against a nephew. I don't know who John Read is, Perhaps another nephew? Marsha --- Stephanie Lee <flbrat2u@yahoo.com> wrote: > Hello everyone, > > I'm hoping someone can help me. Hello everyone, I'm hoping someone can help me. I have a couple of old court documents regarding James A. Boggs (I believe this to be the son of James Clendenin Boggs) & John A. Read vs. Elliot Boggs (who is this Elliot?) and Francis C. Boggs (believe this to be Francis Chapman Boggs, son of James Clendenin) circa 1853. It seems this case may have began in the late 1830's. I also have papers that state Francis C. Boggs (Francis Chapman? Boggs, that was administrator of James Clendenin Boggs' estate?)was convicted and owed John A. Read $160.09 plus $34.26 for court costs. As for James A. Boggs vs. Elliot, this case appears to be about cattle and chairs that James A. sold to Elliot. Is anyone familiar with these cases that can shed a little light on them for me. I haven't finished transcribing a couple of the documents, old handwriting can be hard, but messy old handwriting is the worst. :) At first I thought perhaps the cattle and chairs were part of James Clendenin Boggs' estate, but I have the list of items that were sold, and it doesn't appear that James A. Boggs bought any cattle or chairs. Also, while I'm at it. Does anyone know James Clendenin Boggs' son Archibald's middle initial is? On the property appraisement there's a note on Archibald H. Boggs for $9.00. Thanks for any help. Stephanie Lee
Thanks Kathy and everyon for the response. I think I read the archive wrong. It looks like that Wesley is the son of John Alexander and Susannah Howell, instead of James Edward. I've gathered some info. on him. He was married to a Mollie Parsons, and had a son George. Now James Edward, that Wesley's UNCLE had a son William Scott Boggs who married Sylvia Blankenship who would have been the grandniece and first cousin once removed of George Blankenship, the second husband of Rosa Ellen Boggs, my great-grandmother. If anyone knows anything more, I'd love to hear from you. Dear List: I am trying to further my Boggs line and need your help. Esther Boggs m. Robert B. Fillingim in 1820. Robt was born in Craven Co., NC; family moved to Cedartown, Escambia Co., FL and raised their family. I do not know too much about the Boggs of this area. And can say she wasn't from perhaps SC or VA. Possibly Melungeon? Don't know. Some descendants of the Fillingims filed for Cherokee membership but were rejected, stating "Creek Case." So she could have been Creek indian? Any suggestions would be helpful. If you have Boggs that go back that far in these areas, please let me know. Thanks Leah
All I know is its called The Boggs family. I didn;t know he had any other books MarciaBoggs@aol.com wrote: > Which of Virgil's books is on microfilm? Which of Virgil's books is on microfilm? I have copies of the first two he published and someone told me there might be a third one. Thanks for the info.
Virgil's book Boggs family is on microfilm and can be ordered through your local LDS center Title: Boggs family Authors: Patterson, Virgil L. (Virgil Lee) , 1919- (Main Author) Boggs family FHL US/CAN Film 2055988 Item 6
Concerning the books by Mr. Patterson. I know of two. One had a red checked cover and the other was a paper back book which was much smaller. I have the latter and have seen the former. Please note that there are mistakes in Mr. Patterson's writings and one should not take everything in them as gospel. His writings however are a very good outline to start or continue your work.
