You are quite welcome Marsha....I believe in exploring every avenue of possiblities My father passed down to us being Cherokee and Black Dutch (which was often used as a "cover" for N/A blood Edward
Here is that excerpt from Richard Pangburn's book; "Indian Blood". : BOGGS, BOGS, BAUGS, BOGGAS etc.- A Cherokee name. John Boggs was a trader among the Cherokees and he served as an emissary during border conflicts. Boggs informed Gov. William Blunt in 1792 of the impending attack of the Creeks (with John Watts and a party of Cherokees) against the encroaching white settlements. "Bogs (sic) is a half-breed, well known to many white people, and by all parties viewed as a man of veracity". see COVSP, vol 6 p.115,116 In 1793, John Boggs ran the ferry for the prominent Cherokee, Turtle-at-home, village chief at the Running Water Town. Boggs fell in love with his daughter, Tsi-yah-ney-naw. Perhaps due to them, the Boggs surname is now common in mainstream Americans who have the Cherokee princess tradition. See Holmes, pp. 62-63. Listed on the 1835 Cherokee Census was the household of Robert Boggs, living in Creek Path, Alabama, and consisting of one halfbreed and eight mixed Catawbas. The Boggas household of six Cherokees living on Lookout Creek in Georgia included one quarterblood. Listed on the 1835 Cherokee Census of Tennessee was the large family of John Boggs consisting of fourteen Cherokees. Their farm was on Candy's Creek in McMinn County. See Tyner, pp. 6, 100, 171. Lucinda Boggs who married Azzel Blevins from Carter County, Kentucky was traditionally a Cherokee, as was her Husband. Robert Cunningham has added a picture of Nancy Boggs Ferguson and her husband, George W. Ferguson to the Boggs' family album on Photopoint. Robert included the following information: "Nancy was a daughter of James H. Boggs and Matilda Lyons and sister of Lewis Franklin Boggs. George and Nancy moved to the state of Washington around the turn of the century. Both died at a fairly young age and were buried in the Northwest. Nancy was born in 1874 and died in 1916. George was born in 1874 and died in 1922." Thanks for sharing another photo with all of us Robert. Here is the portion of an article which I sent the list....(it only shows the relevent Boggs part.... Apalachicola Creek Indians permanently settled Calhoun County in 1815; wars forced them ot of Alabama. A new tribal town was built by Chief Tuskie Hajo Cochrane between Old River and Noble Lake. Cochrane is an Anglicized version of his Creek name Corakko, pronounced "Cho'thlakko", which means Horse. The 1823 Treaty of Moutrie Creek recognized Cochranetown with it's 100 families as part of the Blunt-Tuskie Hajo Reservation, now called Blountstown. The 1832 Treaty of Payne's Landing compelled local Creeks to emigrate to Texas with Chief John Blunt. Tuskie Hajo Cochrane's daughter, Polly Parrot refused to go. Her clan fled northward to a Calhoun County wilderness called Boska Bokga, (the last place of fasting". The Bokga's people became known as the Boggs family. Many Calhoun citizens descend from Polly's clan. In 1986, Florida Tribe of Eastern Creek Indians whose members include the Boggs Clan was recognized by the state. Today they still maintain their ancient traditions. Their unbroken line of titled Chiefs is Tuskie Hajo Cochrane- 1832, Polly Parrot, Regent Matriarch 1833-1898, Tuskie Hajo James Daniel Boggs- 1920, Alice McClellan Boggs, Regent Matriarch 1933- 1961, Tuskie Mahaya Hajo Dr. Andrew Boggs Ramsey-1962. The Tuskie Hajo (Zealous Warriors) all descend from Polly. Cochranetown is 3 miles south of here, east of SR69.

John Boggs Suaggy Boggs Dick Boggs The Georgia Genealogical Society Quarterly Volume III series 3 March 1967 Part of Letter by Dr. Andrew Boggs Ramsey- I am quite confused about the information I read. Everyone appears to be white. We (Indian Boggs) too had a story about three Boggs brothers coming from across the sea, that we used to pass as white after Florida passed a law in 1853 making it against the law to be an Indian. (Note from Edward here...Perhaps so many of us have heard same 3 brothers fable in our families...that perhaps it was concocted in order to hide our roots, much like the Black Dutch or Black Irish cover...What do you think?) Their names were also Robert, John, and an adopted white man named William Livington who deserted from the British Army, and adopted the Boggs Indian name and was accepted as a brother. any help to clarify my confusion will be appreciated. Sincerely yours, (signed, Andrew Boggs Ramsey) Well guys...Edward here again....put your comments on the list, if you wish. (again I do NOT dispute the validity of there being Scot/Irish Boggs...this is quite evident...I am only presenting what documented evidence I have found on the apparent Indian Boggs' . Thanks for reading Maybe it was all so confusing before (the names, dates.etc..) because of this separate line of Boggs....maybe now some knots will begin to unravel....
I believe that the German Boggs is spelled Bogs
The Name Bogkas is Creek Indian . The K is sounded more like a glottled G. The resulting sounds more like Boggas or Boggus----hence Boggs.
Hello Edward Boggs: I'm trying to locate my grt grdfther/grt grdmther, this could be the answer to my questions, possibly I'm looking at the wrong spelling of the my last name, I am Paul A. Dear List, I solved the question of Marquez, Leon Co, TX. It was NOT Marguez. A simple trip to <maps on us> solved my question. I could still use confirmed data on the relationships of T. O. Boggs' & Kit Carson's wives. Regards, John Andrew Boggs.
The only thing I question in the article about Tuskie Hajo Cochrane is the "Boska Bokga's" which appears to be Polish to me...and Hajo....isn't that Swedish or German? Any language scholars out there? Edward
