Still on the lookout for a Margaret Boggs who married Wm Watson in Phila.in 1761 in Christ Church(episcopal I believe but could be Presbyterian). Does anyone know the William Boggs who was a teacher at the New York Institute for the Blind in 1839? He was married to Sophia Sargent. They had several children, one of them was Mary Denny Boggs who married Albert Valdemin Gude from Denmark. They are my great-grandparents. William Boggs was born in Ireland in 1813. His father's name was John Boggs and his father's name was William Boggs. Denny Conboy Orlando, FL 32806

Dell, In the partial e-mail below, you listed John Wesley Boggs or John W. Boggs. Are you related to this John Wesley Boggs? and if not, where did you get this information? Have we communicated before? The reason I ask, is that his is my grandparents and my father. (He was not the only child, however. Also, it is Calvin Luther Boggs not the reverse.) Have you come across someone other than myself that is related to this Boggs family? I'm anxiously awaiting your reply! > John Wesley Boggs b. 6-30-1884 Muskinghum Co. Sad to say, I don't know for sure. I think not however. My father was Floyd Boggs his brother Cecil Boggs. Both deceased. Their father and mother passed before I was born, they were raised by a stepmother--whom we never met. Neither brothers spoke much about their childhood except my dad had nightmares about his stepmother shortly before he passed away. Someday I will undertake a serious quest to find out who was whom on my family tree. Nice to hear from you, wish I could be of more help. John Boggs Alpharetta, GA ps. Ironically, we onced lived next to a Frank Boggs, apparently no relation, who was a renound gospel singer. -----Original Message----- From: Frank Boggs <tger2498@bellsouth.net> To: BOGGS-L@rootsweb.com <BOGGS-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Tuesday, May 08, 2001 7:27 PM Subject: Re: [BOGGS-L] new to the list >John, I am looking for descendants of > > 1 Thomas Monroe Boggs b: May 18, 1853 in South Carolina d: Nov 14, 1928 in >Lincoln, Alabama >. +Rosa A. I have been searching for a death date and place of burial for HENDERSON "Colonel" BOGGS, son of JAMES HENRY BOGGS and MATILDA LYON BOGGS of Lawrence County, Kentucky. Henderson was born in 1861-62 in Lawrence County Kentucky, and may have died in Ironton Ohio (Lawrence County, Ohio) between 1905 and 1910. He was married to Sarah E. Blevins. Henderson and Sarah and their 7 children were on the 1900 Lawrence County Kentucky census, and they supposedly moved to the Ironton, Ohio area. Sarah died there in 1928. Any help much appreciated. (indicates bible record) and ABIGAIL CARR bn 2-14-1802 N.C. ROBERT was the son of THOMAS & SARAH WILLIS BOGGS. ABIGAIL was the dtr of JOHN W. CARR of England and her mother was a CROCKETT. It indicates that ABIGAIL grew up in Tenn. ROBERT BOGGS moved in 1803, with his family to Butler co. Ohio and was married Nov. 20,.1821. This record indicates he was reared in Ky but I can't find where his parents ever left Butler co. Ohio. I am descended from a brother of ROBERT, by the name of JOSEPH, who was born in Butler co., Oh.
I was reading from an early Boggs Family Newsletter edited by Alice Grady (Vol. II, No. 4, Dec. 1978). I was curious about an article provided by Mrs. Beverley Whyler, Glenn CA. The article was about a John Boggs, son of Robert W. and Abbie Carr Boggs. John was born in July, 1829 in Potosi, Missouri. In 1849, John left for California and became quite a success, settling around Colusa and Yolo counties. Does anyone know more about his parents and if they were connected to the KY Boggs? Were they connected to Lilburn Boggs, one time Gov. of Missouri who also ended up in CA around Sonoma? Thanks in advance, Robert Cunningham Arnold CA
I have that David Boggs died Spet 11 1876 in Blain and was buried at Sparks Cemetery in Martha, KY. The cemetery is located on Route 469. (contact Charles McGlothen <bigun@easyky.net> for more information.) It was David's wife, Sarah Holbrook who died Jan 5 1868 at the age of 63. She is buried in the same cemetery as David.
