Lots of people spell my name wrong, no problem.
Sorry Frances, I spelled your name wrong.
Francis, I am through James L. Boggs, son of John Boggs.
Edward, Do we go back to the same Boggs ancestors.? I am descended from Phoebe Boggs b 1754 (d/o John Boggs and Mary Keys), who married John Flannery. It seems you have more information on them than I do, Would you please share? Frances Howard Hickey
Hi....Edward back again. Anyone else find any more info on Boggs Indian connection since I left last time? Thanxx, Edward ( Hi Lynn)
I've been searching for many months now to find the parents of Elizabeth Causey Boggs. I just received her birth certificate and there is NO information on either of her parents. Actually, there's not much on it that I didn't get from her tombstone. My father, her grandson, told me that Elizabeth was a Causey before marrying Elisha Boggs. I'm assuming that was her maiden name since there is no indication of children by a previous marriage. Elizabeth was born about 1866, location unknown. She married Elisha Boggs(b. 1859 in Lee County VA) at an unknown time and location. Elisha Boggs died in 1934 in Leslie County KY. About 1940, Elizabeth moved to Jackson County KY with my grandfather, Arthur Boggs, and his family. She died in Jackson County in 1948 and is buried at Cornett's Chapel Cem. in Jackson County. I'd welcome any guidance as to her background. TIA Melva Surnames: BOGGS, CALDWELL, COMBS, CAUSEY, CREECH, BLEDSOE, RATLIFF, PEARCE, RENNER, GILLIAM, FARLEY
I have belonged to the Boggs list before and I'm once again signing up for more information. I decend from James Boggs/John Livingston line. I am a Boggs. I have just found out that one of my husbands gg...(?) grandmothers was a Boggs as well. Her name was RACHEL BOGGS. She was born in1791 in Falling Spring (W) Virginia. She married John BRAND on 22 Oct 1806 and she died on October 10, 1847, right now I'm unsure of the place where she died. The only other information I have on her is her kids and below. I have nothing on her parents. I would like to know if anyone has this Rachel in thier line or is there some connection to her and James Boggs? Or does anyone have the names of her parents? Thanks everyone for your help. Hope to make a connection. Grace Boggs Buckley
A number of months ago, I remember complaining in the Winn-Wynne List Server, in the most politically correct manner possible, about the difficulty with trying to trace some of the women who married into various of my family lines. I received several messages of agreement (and probably a snide comment or two from Becky Thrill - - - hard to believe!!!) Since then, I have been very fortunate to add several generations to the Comer line and the Howdershell line (both of whom married into the Nevins side of my family). The information in both cases flew in out of the blue ( . . . okay cyberspace, but stay with the mental image . . . please) and brought me some very invigorating correspondence with some very wonderful cousins!! Thank you. This is a email of thanks and is intended to give us all hope for those missing relatives . . . . who might waiting in the next email!! And thanks to everyone who has helped me so far!!!! Has anyone on the list ever run across a picture of Levi and Elizabeth (Calhoun-Davis) Boggs? Or, pictures of any of their families (they had 12 children)? Levi's parents were Eli and Sarah "Sally" (Eldridge) Boggs and Elizabeth's father was David Calhoun. Thank you. Marcia (Geiger) Boggs Connersville IN
Son of James Henry Boggs and Matilda Lyon, was born 1861 or 1862. Listed on the 1870, 1880 census of Lawrence County Kentucky as living at home with James and Matilda. Appears on the 1900 census, household # 120, age 38, with wife Sarah and seven children. He then disappears from the records. Family story says he moved his family to Ironton Ohio at some point, (their first child, Carrie b. 1882 was married in November 1906 and listed her residence as Lawrence Co. Ky, so the family must have moved after 1906) and that he died around 1910. His widow Sarah did live in Ironton and died there in 1928. Henderson does not appear on the 1910 or 1920 census for Lawrence County Kentucky or Lawrence County Ohio, nor does his wife Sarah. I am looking for any information on Henderson Boggs after 1900, where and when he died. Would appreciate any information. Thanks, Bob Gardner Goldsboro, NC
I heard from a family member of an incident related by my gg-grandmother Sarah Boggs, wife of Henderson Boggs, b. ca. 1857-1868 d. 12-29-1928. I have been unable to trace who her parents were...some say she was born Sarah E. Barker in July 1857 to parents Hardin Barker and Fanny Blevins, some say she was an illegitimate daughter of William R. Blevins of Carter/Elliott County Ky., just for some background. The story was that she and a brother were playing with ropes when they were children, and her brother had the rope around his neck, somehow slipped or fell and accidently hung himself. Does anyone out there have any information on a young Blevins or Barker male that died by accidental hanging? This may give me a clue to Sarah's family. Bob Gardner
I have just been told that My Mary Reed's maiden name was Moor. She was born 1808 in Kent co. Delaware. Her father-Abraham Neimiah Moor, mother Susannah Boggs. I have a Lot of Boggs in my data base, but not Susannah. Anyone have any idea who this is? Kathy

For what it's worth...I have: (1) Elihu Boggs b. May 1860, son of John Boggs and Melinda Stephens. Elihu married Sarah R. (unknown surname) b. 1855. No children known at this time. (2) Another Elihu Boggs b. Dec 31 1856 Carter Co., KY, son of Hugh Boggs and Lavisa Whitt. This Elihu married Annie Burchett. They had nine children - none named Amanda. (3) The James Boggs that married Sarah Barker on Aug 25 1857 in Carter Co., KY was the son of James Pamer Boggs and Aretta Cox. Sarah Barker was b. in 1840 (4) I have two Harden Barkers. One b. 1839 married Frances Blevins on Sep 22 1856 in Lawrence Co., KY. They had a daughter Sarah E. b. July 18 1857 in Lawrence Co., KY. The other Harden Barker is the one that married Annis Wilson and had daughter Sarah b. 1840 and married James Boggs on Aug 25 1857 in Carter Co., KY (#3 above) None of this is proven but gives a place to look. Hope it helps. ---------- From: Bob Gardner <gardnerb@carrollsfoods.com> To: BOGGS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [BOGGS-L] Date: Friday, June 22, 2001 3:01 PM In my eternal search to find a tangible connection between Sarah Barker, daughter of Hardin Barker and Francis "Fanny" Blevins and the Sarah Elizabeth Blevins who married Henderson "Colonel" Boggs, I came across this interesting census information from Carter County, 1880: 236. Kathy, I was looking in my genealogy book after I sent my last e-mail to you, and I came across a picture of the Kile family taken in September 1990. Beulah, Floyd, Alice, Virginia, Leonard, Hazel, Jeanne and Jimmy are all in the picture. I'll try to scan the picture and email it to you this weekend if you want me too.
