    3. Mike Shoney, Do you have the text of John O. Boggs biography (Jackson Co. MO.) or do you know where I can locate it? Also, do you know what Company or Regiment that James L. Boggs was a Captain in? I know that he was a member of Captain Herbert's company in 1774, and that Capt. Herbert's Company was at the Battle of Point Pleasant in 1774. It is not known if James was actually with the Company at Point Pleasant at the time of the fight. John Holbrook

    3. Gabriel Church wrote this balled about the murder of Alexander Goins by Eli Boggs. I do not remember where I got this copy from, but i do not think it has a copyright. POOR GOINS Come all you young people who live far and near, And I'll tell you of some murder that was done on the Nini Mile Spur. They surrounded poor Goins, but Goins got away; He went to Ely Boggs, he went there to stay. Ely Boggs he foreknew him, his life he did betray., saying "come and go with me and I'll show you a nigh way." They started up the Nine Mile Spur, they made no delay, Till they come to the crossroads where Goins they did slay. When they got within hearing, they were lying mighty still "Your money is what we're after, and Goins we will kill." When they got within gunshot, they bid him for to stand "your money is what we're after, your life is in our hands'" "Sweet Heaven! Sweet Heaven!" How loud he did cry. "To think of my companion, and now I have to die!" When the gun did fire, it caused his horse to run, The bullet failed to kill him, George struck him with his gun. After they had killed him, with him they would not stay. They drank up all his whiskey, and then they rode away. Mrs. Goins she was sent for, she made no delay. She found his grave along by the way. Go kill a man for his riches or any such thing, I pray the Lord have mercy, Till the Judgement kill the sting.

    3. Hi cousins! Is anyone out there familiar with my grandfather's name Judge finlay Boggs? He wasn't a judge, that was his name. He was from Wise County Va. and lived in Harlan county Ky. as well where my father was born. My grandmother's name was Floella WITT. My G-grandfather was a Levi BOGGS. There seem to be a lot of Levi Boggs floating around out there. My Levi died in 1955. His wife (my G-grandmother) was a Laura PARSONS. BOY! this is a confusing family.... would really bappreciate any info anyone might have out there. (Oh, my grandfather had a brother named troy bOGGS. Thanks! e.g.b.

    3. In reference to Hugh Boggs. Hugh, the son of James L. Boggs was born April 7, 1781; He married Elizabeth Blubaugh, on Jan. 20, 1803. Hugh died in Lee CO. VA.. After he died, his widow moved to Lawrence or Carter Co. KY. They had a son named John born 1806 who married Kezziah Miller. They had a son named Elhu (HUGH) Boggs. This Hugh married Nancy Ratliff, Sally Lewis, and Rebecca Browning Noe. So, Hugh that married Sally Lewis was the grandson of Hugh that married Elizabeth Blubaugh. This is from a book titled BOGGS FAMILY HISTORY, by Virgil Patterson. The Boggs who was implicated in the murder of Alexander Goins was Eli Boggs, born1781, and marriedTabatha Polly Pennington. There are several accounts of the murder. There was a song about the incident, I have the words to the song if anyone is interested. John Holbrook
