It comes from a second once removed who lost several members after the Ohio census in 1850. It appears that Absolom and at least two brothers settled in various counties near Galva, IL. The counties were split in such a way that towns are in one county and the cemetaries for them are in another. That is really helpful, with all the name duplication you mentioned!! I have also noted that there seems to be a tendency for brothers and sisters and first cousing to marry people with the same first names as parents and also last names!! I'm sure it was probably a matter of there being only so many families in a given area, so there was a lot of intermarriage, especially in the early years. We have a lot of that in the Acadian families in this area, as well as the Protestants also. I'll share the information I have, as soon as I can do a better job of digestion. 3. James Boggs (b. abt 1667 in Londonderry, Ireland) and died in (1737 in New Castle Co., DE) had a son John Boggs (b. 1700 in Londonderry, Ireland and died in 1751 in Nottingham Town, Chester Co., PA). Also, his sons Francis and William, and daughters Rebecca and Mary died in Chester Co. PA.; his daughter Agnes was married in Philadelphia, PA; his son Robert died in 1804 in Mill Creek Hund., New Castle Co., DE; his son Samuel died in Mason Co., KY in 1815; and his son James Charles Boggs died in Greenbriar Co., (W)V in 1805. I believe all of these children of James Boggs were born in Ireland. It appears that when they came to the US, they may have came to Delaware and then moved on from there, except for James Boggs (1667) who died in Delaware. So, you see there is a tie in to VA, PA, and KY all in this one branch of Boggses. 3. I have a James Boggs (1725-1805) married to a Margaret Jane Sharp. He was the son of Francis Boggs (1702-1763). Francis was the son of James Boggs (Abt 1667--Abt 1737). James Boggs (Abt 1667) was the father of John (1700) Francis (1702), James (1704), Ezekiel (1707), Mary (Abt. 1714), Robert (1712), Rebecca (1714), William (1716), and Alexander (1718) Can anyone confirm or disprove the above. My information isn't documented, just handed down to me from my cousin. Not sure if he has documentation or not, but don't think he does. I have more (undocumented) information if anyone is interested. My line comes through James Boggs (Abt 1667) > Francis (1702) > Ezekiel (1734) > Alexander (1766) > Reuben (1800) > John Marquis Boggs (1825) > Calvin Luther (1857). Is ANYONE searching this far down the line? I seem to be the only one that I know of on this branch. Would love to hear from anyone who might be searching this Boggs family. 2. Edward Boggs
    3. IN the book "Cherokee by Blood" there was a john Boggs who lived in Tenn. He was listed as half blood cherokee, perhaps this may have been a tie to the cherokee legend in the Boggs family. He fell in love with a chief's daughter. her name tsa yeh nay nah (if I remember correctly) This is possibly where the "indian princess" tradition began in the Boggs line. John ran the ferry for the prominent cherokee of the day. Also listed was the household of a John Boggs in Tennessee cosisting of 12 or 13 fullbloods of catawba and cherokee. Does anyone know about the "catawba?
