Cousins, Does anyone have any information on a Thomas Oliver Boggs, son of Lilburn Boggs & Panthea Boone, granddaughter to Daniel Boone. Do we know anything about the statement below. Thanks Paul S Boggs Miami, Fl research Boggsville, CO. It was founded by Thomas Oliver Boggs who once worked for William Bent the builder of Bent's Old Fort on the Sante Fe Trail on the Arkansas River in southeastern Colorado. Boggs is considered Colorado's first rancher---sheep and cattle. Kit Carson died in his home and he and his wife adopted Kit's children.
There are only two Boggs listed as Cherokee By Blood in the National Archives. Blue Boggs---Page 254--File # 4887 Polly Boggs--Page---254--File # 31905 Elva Nolan Morgan.

Dear Kara, The John A is Elliots brother James Edwards son, as is Camden, and Claudia Belle his daughter..The William S. could be James' son Scott, and the Cullie O. could be his son Orville. I don't know about the Rosa E. though. This one puzzles me..could possibly be a child that I don't have listed since all the others are James'. Or it could be one of Julia's nieces. let me know if you find out. Hope this helps. Ruth, My mother claimed to be a relative of Hale Boggs. But I wasn't interested in genealogy then. All of her family are dead now and I can't find anything. Not even a name that ties them together except the name Boggs. I wrote to Lindy for information but never received an answer. My line goes like this: Rudell Renfro Saddler(me) Annie Lou Ray m. Guy Renfro (my perents) Mary Sue Boggs m. John L. Ray (my grandparents) Kinchen Jefferson Boggs m. Margaret Ray (my great grandparents) Thank for any information. Does anyone know where those two were for the 1860 Census? They weren't in Braxton Co., (W)VA. Thanks, Kara
I am trying to find parents and family members of my great great grandmother, Ester (called Hetty) Boggs. This is all that I have been able to learn about her family: Esther 'Hetty' Boggs Born abt 1807 in Ohio. I have checked the Early Ohio Census Records and did not find one Boggs listed. The 1820 Ohio census has 27 Boggs listed, 1830 has 44 listed, 1840 has 12 listed while 1850 has approximately 60+. Not knowing her father's name, this info. does not help me...... yet. By Dec. 1828 in Ross Co., Ohio, she married Boston Joseph Taylor. They remain in Ohio till about 1850 and moved to Iowa. Now, isn't there some Boggs family that has history which includes my Esther 'Hetty' Boggs?. Thank you for checking your records. Z

But it seems to be a family trait. Becky Boggs Vincent Kaplan, LA
I believe that I am the source of information on James Henry Boggs and Matilda Lyons. They were my gggrandparents. James was called "Goins", because he was always "goin'" somewhere. Apparently he had an aversion to work, even though he had a large family to care for. He was a Civil War veteran and a brother, Nelson, was killed in his presence just about 200 miles from home in Lawrence County, Ky. This occured just a few months after they enlisted. There is one important error in the account of the children of James and Matilda's son, Lewis Franklin Boggs, my ggrandfather. He had one illegitimate child, a daughter, Fanny Tilson, before he married Mary E. Johnson, who was also his second cousin. Lewis and Mary had five children, three girls and two boys, including my grandfather, Harry Boggs. Harry taught school in the one room school near Blaine, Ky., on the left fork of Caines Creek before the family moved to Portsmouth, Oh. about 1918. I can provide further info on this line, if anyone is interested. Bob Cunningham Arnold, Calif.
