I have seen video footage of "Doc" Boggs singing...if anyone is interested. Edward G. Boggs
Just for a change of pace, I thought of a question that probably a lot of us would like to ask, but were afraid to, for being thought of as a silly question, or maybe it has been previously queried lots of times before some of us were on the List.......... Here goes: How does Wade Boggs tie into the family? We've all probably been asked a million or two times if we were related to him. Just for fun..E. Boggs
I have copies of marriage license for Wm. Boggs and Anna Johnson dated 1828. They were the parents of James Perry (Hook Jim) Boggs and Lorenza Dow Boggs along with several other children. If you would like a copy please send a SSAE to David Church 29859 Jackson Rd. Kingston, Ohio 45644 There is no charge but you might consider a small donation to the Hugh Boggs Hannah Blevins Boggs headstone replacement fund. Not required just nice. Looking for information on Hugh Boggs who married Trivilla Church, daughter of Adam Church in Lawrence Co. (Blaine) KY. on June 26, 1893. Need parents of this Hugh. Thanks
A review of a family tree of Mrs. Alice C. Grady, former Ed. Boggs Newsletter, & from Acton, MA, received by J. A. Boggs, in 1998, indicates that, Grant's wife Julia Brey Dent, was a distant cousin of a Harry Boggs. He was into real estate, in St. Louis, MO, in 1858 Grant worked for him, (re; "The Generals, by N. S. & D. Anderson, Wings Books, 1997, U. S. Grant & R. L. Lee)" pages 162-163, for a short period of time. The Boggs line for Harry is shown as: (1) Francis Boggs, 1742-1836 - m. Jane Morrison Campbell, 1746-1826 (2) George Boggs, 1777-1858, - m. Julia Wrenshall, 1788-1824 (3) Harry Boggs,1811-1867, - m. Louisa unknown unknown, (4) Annie Louisa Boggs, 1852-1924, m. Walter Brown. It is noted that the Clonial Families of The Southern States of America by Stella Pickett Hardy, 2nd Ed. 1958, shows first name of Julia Brey Dent as "Judith".
L. W. Boggs went to CA, in 1846, with the Boggs & Aram Parties. They were a part of the group that the Ill Fated Donner Party accompanied. The Boggs-Aram party did not use the so called "short cut" thus avoided becoming lunch for the Donner Group. See page 85 & 116 of "Men to Match My Mountains", Edited by Lewis Gannett, A History by Irving Stone, 1956 Double Day & Co. Also, for more data on the LWB family (son Thomas Oliver Boggs) see page 130-139 Boggs Family History QuarterlyVol. II, No. 4, Winter 1997, Robert J. Boggs, Ed. at Orange Park, FL. Would like to hear from others that are doing research on this family line. Reply to <[email protected]>, John Andrew Boggs, Milaca, MN.
John: If you would send a note stating which Marriage records you want and your snail mail address I will send them to you. They are long sheets of paper and won't scan well. I have data from a variety of sources on LWB. Family Tree Record is as follows: (1) James Boggs abt 1600, (2) Wm. Boggs, abt 1625, (3) James Boggs, (4) abt 1665-67-James The Immigrant from Londonderry, (5) William Boggs,1716-1790, m. Jane Stein, (6) John McKinley Boggs, 1755-1830, m. Martha Oliver, Lilburn Wycliff Boggs, 1798-1861, m. 1, Julia Ann Bent & 2, Panthea Grant Boone. Due to space, I am not listing complete ancestor/descendants. I have my line started with a John Livingstone, presumed. I see records that show a William, as the son of John, then my James 1667. I am in the process of contacting a source that has the data from John McKinley Boggs, back to the James Boggs, 1600, from Scotland. My data from John McKinley Boggs, forward is listed in The Boggs Newsletter, edited by Mrs. Alice C. Grady, of Stowe, MA - Vol. III No., 2 April 1979, pages 29-37, by Lois C (Boggs) Covey, Rt.1, Box 67 Cedaredge, CO 81413. Also, see Boggs Family History Quarterly, Vol. XI, No. 2, Summer 1997, Editor Robert J. Boggs, Orange Park, FL. I would appreciate hearing from other researchers of this line. Robert, my records do not include those names listed in your 3 April Roots web message.
I would like a copy as I have these people in my family files.

For those who are interested in the Grant/Boggs relationship, I found this site about Ulysses S. Grant which includes a little information about his wife Julia. However, not as much as we would like to see, but I thought it was interesting anyway. An interview with Julia Boggs Dent Grant's cousin Louisa Boggs http://www.mscomm.com/~ulysses/page10.html The home page for U.S. Grant is at (takes a little while to load, so be patient) http://www.mscomm.com/~ulysses/index.html Near the bottom of the page there is a search component. Search for BOGGS and it gives you the pages that have Boggs mentioned.
