Carol, Look on my site at.. _http://hometown.aol.co.uk/kevinasplin/Collett.html_ (http://hometown.aol.co.uk/kevinasplin/Collett.html) and you will see a picture and details of another soldier of the same unit as your fellow. As your man was No.2047 and Collett was No.2036, it is a good guess that they joined the Life Guards at around the same time. Kevin
Hi Listers, I am looking for Frederick Ernest Smith who was born in Durban, Natal, South Africa ca 1883/1886. He was the son of Alfred and Annie Smith. I don't know if Alfred and his family lived in SA for a period of time or if they have immigrated to SA. To date I could not find anything regarding Frederick or his family. If the information is correct Frederick was a soldier during the Boer War. I suppose he fought for the British army but could be engaged in a Natal Colonial Regiment. Durban Light Infantry Natal Volunteer Field Artillery Natal Carbineers Natal Mounted Police Natal Rifles Natal Royal Rifles Natal Volunteer Composite Regiment. I really don't know if this information is correct. Please, if somebody can help me it would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance, Enjoy a wonderful day, Karin Serfontein nee Smith
