    1. Regimental numbers
    2. My relative James WYNN (1872-1915) served in the South Africa Campaign - from his WWI death record at the CWGC. Also from CWGC when he died in France he was serving in the 1st Battalion Welch Regiment, his number was 27338. There is also a medal card for him but it does not mention South Africa. Can I assume that in South Africa he would have been in the same regiment and used the same number? If so then does anyone have a suggestion as to how I could use those to find his South African record? His brother Joseph is also believed to have served with him in the Boer War but since he did not serve in WWI I do not have similar information as to his regiment.
