    3. Hello list! I'm trying to find some more details on my great grandfather who was killed in the BOER war. His name was John Aspey and he was a Colour Sergeant in the Oxfordshire ( and Bucks?) Light Infantry. Have tried the Ox & Bucks website but no luck and attempted the 1881 census ( I believe he was about 35 when he died so I would have thought he would be on there but I could not find any info) .His family were scattered after his death and my grandmother as the youngest of several children had no records. Would be grateful to anyone who can point me in the right direction Cheers Kathy Reid

    3. Hello Kathy, 2568 Colour Sgt. J.K. Aspey 1st Battalion Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry was killed in action near Goedgedacht 18/3/1901. It looks like this was a skirmish in the northern Transvaal involving a Mounted Infantry detachment. 3 men, including your g-g-f, were killed and 3 wounded. He appears to have no known grave.
