Surely not, Helen. There are dozens of books available on the subject of the Anglo-Boer War. An excellent overall summation is Thomas Packenham's "The Anglo-Boer War." For Canadian views of it, read, "Painting The Map Red," by Carman Miller, and "Canada's Sons On Kopje and Veldt," by Thomas Marquis. Ask your local public librarian to obtain some of them for you via Inter-Library Loan. And as you live in Parksville, may I suggest you drive down to the public library in Ladysmith to borrow a copy of my, "Kruger's Gold: A novel of the Anglo-Boer War." It is accurately researched, and reveals unpalatable facts about both sides. It may particularly interest you that the protagonist is a Victoria soldier. Enjoy. -- Sidney Allinson, Victoria, BC.
