Dear Graham, According to the reference books that I have only two F SHEPPARDS died in the Boer War. The first is nearest to you relation: 2124 Private F. Sheppard, 2nd Battalion Wiltshire Regiment Died from wounds received at SLAAPKRANS on 28/07/1900. He died on 30th 07 1900. His age is not given. He should have entitled to the Queens South Africa Medal. In all probability it was sent to his wife. The second F. Sheppard was only 23 when he died at Netley hospital Southampton in the UK and no details of the reason for his death are given.
