    3. Hi Simon - 'The Queens' were specifically the Royal West Surreys. Similarly 'The King's' were specifically the Liverpool Regiment despite several other regiments having King's in their title. (The Queen's later became the official title of the RWS and the King's became the official title of the subsequently amalgated Liverpool and Manchester Regiments). If you can send me an attachment with a scan of the naming on the medal I should be able to tell you if it is officially named or renamed. The only way to be entirely sure of his entitlement is to have someone check his name and number on the Queen's South Africa Medal roll of the West Surreys in series WO 100 at the National Archives in Kew. Are there no other potential candidates? Regards, Simon Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com
