The war was over in 1902 so he would not be classed as a war casualty. In MEMORIAM goes up until 1913 and there is a H.Wardell no regiment or rank known who died 14/05/1903. But the author does not know of what. Although his grave has been found at a Johannesburg cemetery he is not on the war memorial suggesting that he may have worked for the army after the war but did not die during hostilities.
