Dear Christine, I have just completed a search of the casualty returns for the Argylls during the Boer War. I can find no casualty report for the name PLATTEN. I used the book SOUTH AFRICAN FIELD FORCE CASUALTY LIST. This was compiled from casualty returns held at Kew. The book does not attempt to put the names in any order other than listing them by regiment in 6 monthly periods. Thus I may have missed it. There is also the chance that it was never transcribed. Good hunting John JOHN CRONIN CHRISTCHURCH DORSET
