Forwarded Message ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robin & Trudy Wainwright" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: 27 April 2003 11:25 Subject: William Wainwright - Boer war I am trying to trace details of my grandfather's Boer War service. He was William Wainwright, born 1878 in Leeds, Yorks. About 50 years ago my parents had a new testament with his name and Boer War but alas at some time it was thrown out(!) He later served in WW I and was killed in 1916. He was a blacksmith and it has been suggested he might have been involved with the Yeomanry. He was not a professional soldier, at least not by his wedding in 1905. The fact that he does not appear at home in the 1901 census adds weight to my assumption. Would he have served in the Yeomanry, Militia or Volunteers? Any advice on tracing him. Thanks Robin Wainwright --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
