Dear Annette, From the medal roll of Ist regiment of Scottish Horse, 35410 TROOPER HUGH EGAN, QSA WITH THE BARS TRANSVAAL, and 1901. He was discharged 18/12/1901. No reason for discharge given. The two regiments of Scottish horse were raised in S. Africa in 1900 from Scotsmen already in the country or those of Scots parentage.
