Dear List, I have a question about "Stowaways". A rumor in our family is that my husbands Grandfather was a stowaway on a boat during the Anglo Boer War. Is this possible. I was lead to believe he was a volunteer. Love to hear your comments. Glynis

Hi Glynis: He may not have been accepted for the local contingents to the war, so went to South Africa (possibly by stowing away) and joined up with a South African unit there.
