    3. Hi Jenifer, I have the Imperial Yeomanry roll which shows 20284 Tpr. Arthur Royston Howard of the 12th (South Notts Hussars) Company, Imperial Yeomanry entitled to the Queen's South Africa Medal with clasps Cape Colony, Orange Free State, South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902. It also shows he died of disease at Naauwpoort (modern spelling Noupoort), Cape Colony on 17/1/1902. 'In Memoriam' shows him buried at Noupoort Cemetery and although there is no individual grave marker his name is on the cemetery memorial. The date clasps were often issued late, especially to the Imperial Yeomanry, weren't attached to the medal (especially, as in this case, when the man died) and became lost. The good news is that IY attestation and service papers, unlike those of regular soldiers of the period, have almost a 100% survival rate, even for men who died on service. His papers are in series WO/128 at the National Archives in Kew. He was a trooper in 12th Imperial Yeomanry, 3rd Battalion. We have his Queen's South Africa Medal, which has Orange Free State and Cape Colony clasps.
