Hi, If you have not seen it, this week's Newsweek magazine has a terrific article on DNA testing and genealogy. Here is a link to it. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11080815/site/newsweek/ We should be getting a number of results in shortly from the people who took their tests in December. We still need lots of families to get represented. john.
Hi, We got back two sets of DNA results today. Everyone can view the results at: http://www.familytreedna.com/public/boatwright If you click on Y-Results, you will see a display of the three results we have so far. One is almost a complete match for George's reference DNA results. The other is nothing at all close. Based on paper genealogies, all three of these should be virtually identical. This is the power of the DNA technology. We get science to help us prove our lines. And it does show the value for those of you who have done a lot of research to get your line tested. There has been an assumption that all of the Boatwrights descend, more or less, from the same family. This is evidence that this assumption may not be true. Or that there were some adoptions or name changes back in time that have created some different lines biologically. It is only going to come from getting lots of lines tested that you can really know for sure. john.
