Nancy! Did your grandfather,Dan Boatright, go to Hawhammock Church? If so, then HE is one of the two very elderly gentlemen I 'interviewed' in 1970!!! What year did he die? My old notes say "The following are from my long talk with Mr. Dan Boatright....date 1970"..... What I never see mentioned in genealogical sites is reference to ROADS, rivers, and other 18th and early l9th century routes of movement......I am very interested in that great Boatright portrait in Greenville, S.C. (a lady, ca 1820s)....and the ref to Elberton area, GA.......and Greenville is right on a main 18th century route from Virginia to GA I still think we will be able to figure out a LOT by comparing the movements and landholdings....and family given names....of Margaret's father, Kindred Braswell....... I haven't told you yet but my Grandmother Boatright had hanging on the wall of her bedroom what was called "Reuben Boatright's fiddle (violin)"....very old and clearly 'homemade'.....then recently I fou nd a reference in a book about Bark Camp Church (where he went before Hawhammock was established) to a violin maker in that church.. DAR is not always the law. Emanuel estate records show his widow, Margaret, was appointed guardian of their two minor children, Charles and Nancy on 9/3/1812. DAR says 1818, another record shows 1821. Take your pick!!! I have run across some info that may be worth looking into. They had a son named Daniel, Jr. He had a son named Charles and maybe Nancy!!!!! Charles was born around 1792 in GA. and died in Barnwell, SC. aft 1830 & married Sarah Unknown b.c. 1790 in SC. and died aft. 1870 In Barnwell Co., SC.
