Surnames: Boatwright, Foster, Barton, Johnson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ZYE.2ACEB/289.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Yes, J.E. and Mahala Boatwright are my great grandparents and Thomas is my great uncle, I have the same census. They did stay in Wayne County, this is where my mother and her siblings grew up with the exception of living in California during the "Grapes of Wrath" days. Yes, they moved out west for a while in search of jobs picking peaches and olives. My mother's parents were Richard Elmer Foster and Mahala Ann (Boatwright) Foster. James E. was killed on the 4th of July in 1904. He was shot in the chest by a man with the last name "Mcaffee", I am not sure the spelling, but this is what my grandma told my mom. No one knows why he shot him and I can't find any other info. My mother's grandma remaried, his name was Mr. Gentles, but she didn't know his first name. My grandfather died before I was born and my grandma died when I was 7, and my mom has a poor memory, so I am trying to get as much family history together as I can. Thanks for the info.
