Hi Wilena Young I have examined the 1850 census for Carroll and Coweta CO GA. I find four James Boat(w)right. they are reported as born in GA, SC, GA and DC. None in NY. The James D. b 1799/1800 in DC was in Carroll Co and had wife Mary and ch Martha and Eliza The 1870 census for Johnson CO., ARK shows a J.D. Boatright age 46(?) born 1823(?) in NY with wife Elizabeth age 37 born 1832/33 in GA and ch Georgia 6 b 1863/64 in TX, John D. 2 born 1867/68 in AR and Benjamin M. 1 Mo. b 1870 in AR Note: The question marks above imply that the actual tape or other media from which this data was taken was probably not readable with any accuracy. Also the actual census only gives the age at time of census. The compiler of this data from the original has added his best estimate of actual year of birth for the benefit of genealogists. The Carroll Co GA Quarterly of the Carroll CO Gen. Soc. of Carrollton Ga Vol lV No 3 Fall 1983 lists Marriages 1848-1857 and includes James D Boatright to Caroline Webb DEC 16 1857 The NY census reports for 1790 to 1890 do not include any Boat(w)rights. This leaves the stated birth of James D as being in NY questionable. Jerry Boatwright On Wed, 6 Apr 2005 16:57:23 EDT Wdky88@aol.com writes: > Seeking information on James D. Seeking information on James D. Boat(w)right b. abt. 1795 NY and his wife Elizabeth Carolyn Webb Boat(w)right b. abt. 1832 Coweta Co. GA. They were married in Carroll Co. GA on 16 Dec. 1857. Due to his age we believe he may have been previously married. Another family researcher found them on the 1860 Polk Co. AR and 1870 Johnson Co. AR census. We have lost track of them after 1870. Since he was abt.76 years old in the 1870 census, he may have died and she remarried. Know children were: J. I am collecting old photos of Boatrights of Emanuel Co. and would like to connect with those who may have some. My mother is most interested also. I have a few to share, but not alot. I need to go to Mama's and get what she may have also. My fourth great grandmother was Frances Tinsley Boatwright Kasey......m. to Singleton Lisle Kasey. Her father was James Boatwright of Cumberland Co. VA and I believe he went to Jessamine Co. Ky with his second wife. His first wife was a Thomas, I think. We've yet to pinpoint the exact relationship of my Frances to Frances Elizabeth, but I'm assuming she was a close family member. James and John Joseph may have been brothers. There are just so many with the same names! Singleton and Frances lived in Pittsylvania Co. as well as Bedford Co. VA. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Sally Kasey E.

Many claims have been passed around about their children for many years. This couple lived in Amherst & Cumberland County Virginia. Their reported sons: Aneas (born 1786) Tecumseh (b. 1787) Richard (b. 1788) Marlow T. (b. 12 Apr 1789) Powhatan Valentine (b. 13 July 1790) Major P. (b. 13 Feb 1792) Prior J. Are all of the sons above known to actually be their sons? Does anyone have proof that Frances' maiden name was "Tinsley"? What about proof of the parents of John Joseph and Frances? I have no proof of when John Joseph Boatright died, but it was reportedly in Virginia. AFter his death, supposedly his widow went to Kentucky and there is proof there of their children. I would very much appreciate a county name in Kentucky or other evidence that proves their children. Thanks.
