We have alot of info, personal papers, photo's and original furnishings of the Boatright families including documents from the revolutionary war. Thomas Boatright is listed in the family bibles. My husbands Great Grandmother was Josephine Boatright who married John Strange. They both lived in Highland County, Ohio. In fact, I have learned a lot of my own family history because of their association with famous people. When I first became interested in genealogy my Spanish teacher in college, who was a Mormon, brought me some books to help me get started. I randomly opened the book and it showed an example of a Library of Congress card which read "Thomas Trammell, Revolutionary Soldier". Incredible as it seems, it was the Trammell family I was researching and my ggrandfather's name was Thomas Jefferson Trammell. The card listed the author and the city he lived in. I called information, got his number and just like that I was totally hooked. The first Thomas Trammell came to America in 1650. They were in Stafford Co, VA. They donated the land that Falls Church is built on. George 'Washington really did sleep at Samuel Trammell's plantation and recorded the fact in his diary. I have not gotten beyond Thomas Boatright m Amy Rushing dau of Richard Rushing. Thomas and Amy went to Texas with Stephen F. Austin's first 300, also 2 Trammell orphans went with them, James and Burke. Burke Trammell died at the Alamo. Their daughter Patsy (I think her name is really Martha) m Thomas Trammell. They had a son named Lewis. @1830 Thomas and Amy came back to Ark. from TX as they were having trouble getting their land grant. Thomas Boatright, Patsy and Thomas Trammell and several other collateral families members died. No record of an epidemic so I think maybe they had yellow fever. Thomas and Amy were my 5th ggrandparents. Any info you have on earlier Boatrights would be appreciated. Where are they buried? Linda
When you go to the website, you can do a surname search. You will find that there are several Boatrights listed. Click on the name you are interested in and it will tell you the cemetery where that person is found as well as having a photo of the tombstone. Lynda Thornda@aol.com wrote: Where are they buried? I have figured out that sometimes names are spelled the way they sound, and not the correct way. My Leroy Boatrite is a cousin to my Dad, Thomas Uriah Thornton, son of Hattie Jane Gore and ? Beachard (Thornton is step-father). This Leroy is in FL about 1926 or so, do you know of any Boatrights that may have been in FL around this time?
Sorry to intrude. I noticed that you list Boatrights, Brewers and Reddings. I also have all those names in my ancestry chart. My 5th ggrandparents Thomas Boatright and Amy Rushing were with Austin's first 300 settlers into TX. They went there from ARK. My Brewers were also from ARK and my Grandmother's cousin married a Redding. Somehow, they all ended up in TX and then the Brewers and Reddings were in IT, later OK. Any info appreciated. Maybe we can help each other. Thanks, Linda
Sorry to intrude. I am a Boatright descendant and I have them from my fifth ggrandparents Thomas Boatright and Amy Rushing who were with Austin's first 300 settlers into TX. Their daughter, Patsy, married Thomas Trammell. I know that the Trammells were in Saline Co. because Phillip Trammell ran the salt works there. For the government, I believe. Any information about the Boatrights in this area would help me connect some dots as I know that several of my collateral families seem to have traveled with the Trammells into each new area. Any info appreciated greatly, Thank You, Linda
Elizabeth Blackburn Boatright was not a distant cousin of yours. Jesse Stinson Boatright was a Grandson of Elizabeth Blackburn Boatright so she would be several Great Grandmothers of yours. You will need to figure that out as I don't have all your ancestors listed. Denny
