Lynne, Amen! One board admin, Tilman (bless his heart!), very generously takes the time to post a reply to the transferred post, which gives me a heads-up that there's been a post transferred. As admin of the Poland general locality board (and 100+ others), I'm certain that there are posts transferred there which should be on one of the province boards. And a post transferred to the wrong board would go unnoticed as well. For me, having some kind of notification of any transferred posts would be very welcome. -Marie

    3. Marie, your praise may be undeserved by me ;-) In the past I did indeed post replies before I moved posts, in fact - at the beginning of my admin career, thinking this was a good idea and normal procedure - whenever I had enough time I stopped doing so when the number of boards increased, reducing my time budget. - later I resumed that practice after I found out that the previous redirect didn't work anymore with moved messages, thus leaving people without a clue about what had happened to their messages. I stopped again after the redirect started working again, and these days do it just now and again in order to enlighten people re. European geography. Frankly speaking, it didn't cross my mind that it would also help the 'new' board's admin. If that's the case, I'll try to make it a rule, especially with Poland as the destination board ;-) Regards Tilman ----- Original Message ----- From: "MJDallas" <rwlistsboards@comcast.net> To: <boards-admins@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 06, 2009 4:46 PM Subject: Re: [BAd] transferred posts (was Re: Deja Vu all over again...) > Lynne wrote: > >> And visiting the boards regularly allow you to view recent posts that >> were transferred to your boards which may need to be edited in some way. >> >> Wish we could receive a report of transferred posts. > > Lynne, > > Amen!
