    2. At some point recently there appears to have been a global replacement of the word "De" or "de" with "DE" in the indexes of many data bases. I have seen this in the indexes to the 1790 through 1930 censuses (except for 1850, the 1890 veterans schedule, and the mortality schedules), some of the immigration data bases, and others. I'm not sure if this has impacted the Boards. The surname that I primarily research frequently is spelled with "De" as a separable part of the name, i.e., "De Camp". Has anyone observed a similar problem? I have tried to post a query about this to the Ancestry Site Comments, but that board seems to be down at the present time. Global changes like this shouldn't be made casually. Does anyone have suggestions about how this change might be reversed? Wilson DeCamp Leesburg, VA

    3. Hi Wilson: I was going to suggest the Ancestry Improvements board as an alternative, but it seems to not be accepting posts at this time either. Might be part of the molasses syndrome, or may be something new. You may want to report it to the Help Desk. Unless the search engine is case sensitive, it should not matter re the De de or DE.
