Thanks, Lou Lou- I don't feel you should remove these posts unless there is personal info about living people you don't feel should be on ANY board. If you are uncomfortable with this type of post on YOUR board then, as has already been suggested, move the post to Lost Family and Friends. Joan

    3. I disagree. I have been informed/educated over the years, via asking STAFF for a ruling and being told to move posts that are seeking living individuals as well as those seeking information re adoption. One must bear in mind if the post fits the TOPIC. If the TOPIC is the SURNAME and related historical and genealogical information then it would be on topic for a surname board. If the TOPIC is LOCATING someone and the surname is secondary, then the post must be moved to retain the integrity of the boards -- a duty we are charged with. If someone is seeking a "lost friend (high school, college, military, church, etc.) or family member then the "lost friends and family" board would be the more appropriate location for the post. If someone is seeking information regarding adoption (birth mother, birth family, etc.) then the more appropriate board is to be found among the Adoption boards. If the surname box is used appropriately, the post will still turn up for a surname search no matter what board it is moved to. One must read the posts carefully to determine the actual topic of the post. Not just the mere mention of a surname or location may make it on topic, nor off topic for the mere mention of adoption.
