Where is Perry Mason? lol Judy It can be very frustrating to see something you shouldn't (or not see something you should be seeing) on the boards (or on any webpage). No one doubts what you are seeing even if we don't see the same issues with our boards -- the problem is to report it with enough details for the developers to figure out the nature of the problem and fix it or explain what happened. I already posted a new thread on my phone call to ancestry. But just a quick comment. I absolutely hate when trying to report a major problem that I have first verified is NOT just "me" and STILL they argue! I had to TAKE the tech onto a problem board and SHOW him what to look for. He didn't even know what a "classification" was. Then he put me on hold and talked to higher-ups. Only THEN did he back off and talk to me like I knew there was a real problem. Before that, he wanted me to change my security settings (I told him, there is not much lower than "low" lol), and delete ALL my cookies (shouldn't need to do that for a server problem) etc etc. All they need to do is listen to the folks who use their system the most & frequently. WE catch things before they do, because we USE the boards so much! And YES, I do give URLs, and step by step to re-create the problem and they still try to argue. geesh He had to SEE the problem before he understood it. So my suggestion is, make the tech visit the board "with" you on the phone. Give them an exact message to view as an example, then walk them through exactly what is missing. Dear Judy: They do not know anything with regard to ADMIN issues as they are there to support the paying customers who USE the boards, not the Volunteers that maintain the integrity of the boards. They are not trained on our issues. It is inappropriate for Admins to use these customer support lines for our issues. If it were appropriate, the phone numbers would be provided on our Help Pages. They are not. There is not a phone bank of paid staff dedicated to support Volunteer Admins. It sounds like a customer service agent attempted to assist you, even though your call was beyond their purview. Please use the appropriate methods for Board ADMIN Support and do not call the CUSTOMER support lines. 1) Peer to peer support via Boards Admins Board and List 2) Help Desk at Rootsweb.com (no matter if Ancestry view or Rootsweb) 3) messageboards@rootsweb.com to contact the Message Boards Coordinator Getting angry and ranting only compounds matters, rather than helps them. This list is for peer to peer support -- it is not for complaining about STAFF, nor the volunteers at the Rootsweb Help Desk. Please bear in mind how very few employees there are that support the resources at Rootsweb... programmers/techies included. You can count them on ONE hand. Things may seem to move slowly... but they do move. The Boards have been being worked on the last few nights. If you are frustrated... take a break from the boards. They will be here in a week and the issues may have resolved by then.
