You should move it by itself to an appropriate board. It will not take any other messages with it unless there are replies to her message. -------------- On 11/19/06, Rene' <rtreff@stny.rr.com> wrote: > Hi All, > > I had someone post to a surname board with genealogical information. I wouldn't move the post. First, it refers to the original post - even though it's the poster's name. If you move it to "1st poster's name" board, first it has no context because it isn't connected "to" anything or anyone. 1st poster's name won't likely be anywhere near the "reply" --- even if we assume 1st poster EVER posted to her own surname board. So therefore, the ONLY logical place for 2nd post is with the original post. Just because a reply never mentions the Board Name does not *automatically* make it "inappropriate" for the 1st post. I let it sit for a couple of days to think about before deciding that it really doesn't belong. I thought about if I moved it, how would it be attached to anything, but captions/titles can be changed by administrators. She didn't even directly reply to the 1st poster in the message, just said, I don't know if you have this information or not on the "blank" family, and gave the information. That is why I really didn't feel that it was relevant Unfortunately when I looked for that surname board, there isn't one, but she has posted the same information on several different boards that have married into the surname she was referencing, so it isn't information that is lost. If I knew that the surname she was referencing was tied in anyway to my surname board, I would've left it, probably with a post myself tying it in, but there isn't anything common except the 1st posters last name.
