Geez, and I thought only hitting my boards were getting "bombed", is it the same person? I've been getting a copy of my "canned" letter that I send to those who don't use the surnames subject line the right way - in the abuse report. In addition they are using a variation of my home email address. I figure that they will eventually get tired of it and stop - let's hope. I do have a couple of questions - I totally understand where Joan is coming from, when you have 50 abuse reports at a time, it gets a little much opening each thread, but when I find someone who has "the feel" of a newbie, I always check view posts, and if I find other posts with the same problem, then I go through and hit report abuse, I never check the board that they are on. Should I do this or not? Also in regards to cross posting - I've heard two different "rules". Do we report every single post, or just one to staff? I've done it both ways, it gets a little trying when someone has cross posted 20 times or more as in lots of cases, to report all of them. I know that when some admins get the abuse report they just delete the post themselves instead of waiting for staff - so when its not one of my boards, and I've only reported it once, and it's deleted - the purpose has been defeated. So what is the correct way of handling it? Thanks, Rene'

It sounds like one of the people you sent that to got ticked and so, they put your copied email into the Abuse report. What do you mean--a variation of your home address? Their report should show their identity---if you mean they are using a variation of your email as theirs, I might consider telling Staff. Perhaps (?) Staff could review that person's status? Their behavior might qualify as impersonation (?). Do we report every single post, or just one to staff? I've done it both > ways, it gets a little trying when someone has cross posted 20 times or more > as in lots of cases, to report all of them. So what is the correct way of handling it? When you use Report Abuse on "one", put "Att Staff: numerous duplicate posts on different boards." That tells Staff to take care of that objection, and alerts them that many boards are involved. Judy

ok... so I am a bit late in this.... When you find a poster has cross posted...multiposted.... the correct procedure is to mark each and every one so that Staff can take care of them. Staff does not "have time" to go on a grand search, but can act if they are in the objection que. Staff occasionally taps volunteers on the shoulder to go and mark the mulitposts... so... if you find them and have time... mark all but the most appropriate and they will be deleted.
