Has the new system done summat?? Same result trying to "search" The list description page opens up, it is when one tries to use the "search" or "browse" facility on the page that it "can't be found." It is after 3 am in Utah. The techies are sleeping. If you will write me off list with names of some of the archives, I will see if my experience matches yours. And if so, then a report will need to be made to the Help Desk. The migration did begin in force today. It has had a few bumps. And they are working on them. I have not heard of this one yet. I have wondered for a long time why the GenForum boards weren't linked to RootsWeb. Putting links for subscribing and unsubscribing or for contacting the admins is a great idea. Good suggestion! Education of board users and list posters is the answer and giving them links would help a lot! Last week I decided I wanted to gateway the SINES list to the SINES message board. However there wasn't an admin for the SINES message to give me permission to do so. I applied to become the admin. for the SINES message board. I received notification at my current email address (gmakf@earthlink.net) that I was approved. I applied to have the SINES message board gatewayed to the SINES mailing list. I received notification at my current email address that the gateway was approved. Then I tried to log in and access the tools page for the SINES message board. No matter what user name and password I used I was unable to access the tool page. When I went to the following link: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/admin.brd/rw/gdHBAEB I found: . Boards > Surnames > Sines> Sines (322) You are not an Administrator on this board. -- When I went to the Admin. Center : http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=admin.main&r=rw I found this: . Welcome, Kathleen Fitzgerald You are not currently registered as administrator for any message boards.<snip> ...... When I visited the SINES message board at http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=surnames.sines and clicked on the "Links & Announcements" link.... it said I WAS the admin. Quote: . Administrators's Contact Information: Name: Kathleen Fitzgerald Address: gmak@in-touch-net --------------------- However..... note the address given. gmak@in-touch.net is my OLD address... one that I have not used in several years. gmakf@earthlink.net is my current address. (the "In-touch" company folded and sold it's customers to "Earthlink"). . I contacted the message board help desk who suggested I log-in and change my address in "My Profile" to my current address. I did so, but found that the address in "My Profile" is the current one. I had changed them back when my server changed from In-touch to Earthlink. I suspect that the user name I used when I applied to be the SINES board admin this last week is one I may have used years ago when gmak@in-touch.net was still my address. Could that user name and the fact that my current address begins like my old one have caused the computer to list me under the old address? Why, if confirmation that I was the SINES message board admin was sent to my current address, is my old address being used in connection to the board? . How do I straighten this mess out? Should I ask to have my name (& that old address) removed and then apply again to be admin using a different user name?
