    3. Hi, Regarding this again...yesterday when I signed on I had 89 objections from the poster to delete her posts.  The board I am talking about is part of the World Ancestry Project.  She has been complaining about the admins for the message boards under this project and I don't know what happpened but the other day she decided she wanted every post she ever made deleted.  I can't speak for Judy who started this thread but basically I am getting overwhelmed.  She messaged me personally thru Ancestry and then the 89 objections.  I did reply to her thru Ancestry just letting her know I did send her message to staff. Here is my question.  Do I go thru each of the 89 objections (there could be more this morn I haven't checked yet) and report abuse on each one or just one?  Or is there a better way to handle this?  I'm sorry to sound a little stupid.  I am new and unsure of myself at this point. Thanks for any help! Robin :) ________________________________ From: Traci Putnam <traciputnam@comcast.net> To: boards-admins@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, September 13, 2009 11:32:00 PM Subject: Re: [BAd] Request to delete "all" posts Hi I am new here and just read the messages regarding the member's request and the comment that this member's posts have "raised a rucus" on various boards.  I wonder if it's the same member whom I reported today to messageboards@rootsweb.com because the member has posted the same message on 260 localities boards both in and outside of the US.  The posts are the same and are advertising fraud by Google Ad Services.  The member only joined Ancestry on September 10, 2009 and has posted 260 threads since. I did report this post, but not the individual nor each individual message, since reporting each messageas SPAM would take quite a while. In the event the source of these emails is about this same member, I wanted you to know that I did report the posts to the above email address.  If you would like a copy of my email to messageboards@rootsweb.com, don't hesitate to let me know. Ok, then.  Remember that we do not have the power or technical ability  to actually delete a post.  Posts are the copyrighted property of the  author - that's why we can't edit messages.  When we "delete" a board  message, all we are doing is moving it to a holding folder for staff  to look at and decide what to do. So, as mentioned a while back, the most appropriate thing to do is to  refer the author to staff to request that all their posts be removed  from all boards.  This is the most direct route, even for one  message, as staff would need to verify that the author actually wants  to delete the post. She kept insisting Admins should delete her posts-- but not knowing how many, I felt it best to have her mark the ones-- especially because, as you point out, the poster has been quite vocal and causing strife. NOTHING we can say will change her mind about what she thinks we "SHOULD" do on the boards. After she marked hers on my Board, I also used Report Abuse on ONE of her posts, with ATTENTION: STAFF and told Staff the poster wanted all her posts removed and could Staff, please, look to see if they could preserve most of the longer threads. I deleted (per request) just one post with no replies. I will check back today to see if Staff took care of the other objections. If Staff doesn't, I will attempt to break the thread below the post she wants removed and move those ... then delete the poster's ONE post (or two) in the thread. Her demand is mostly, I think, to aggravate-- to prove her point, if you will. The posts, otherwise, are appropriate and could remain-- except for her blanket request for removal. I had also gotten a mail via Ancestry's Mail System--- I decided to NOT reply to her there at all. I figured she's already testy, so why aggravate her further-- or risk aggravating her further. She fully believes SHE knows how Admins "must" do their jobs and refuses to hear anything than what she believes. So... I'll give Staff time to intervene.... and if they don't, I'll go back to split up threads and delete those single posts. What a pain! Judy
