Lou- The new Registration is for the revised RootsWeb HelpDesk/Knowledge Base system that was explained in the RootsWeb Review article archived here: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/review/2007/1219.txt As the article explains: "Registering helps the staff keep track of your questions and question history." Joan ------------- As volunteer board admins, are we now required to register with ANOTHER username and password just to report any board problems? Does anyone know what the reason for this is? I'm afraid I agree with Lou. Registering again just to use the Help segment doesn't make sense as we've already registered and Rootsweb should already know who we are. I can understand why it would be helpful to staff to be able to track user questions and history, but not understandable is why we need another registration for them to do that. It makes me wonder if our current registration(s) are an Ancestry function to which Rootsweb has no access. This means that some molecules in every cup of water you drink passed through the kidneys of Genghis Khan, Napoleon, Abe Lincoln, or any other historical person of your choosing." Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse in the Washington Post.
The problem with the article it says that we only have to register once. I ve reported problems 4 times in the last 3 weeks and all 4 times I've had to register. It comes back and says that my address is registered, but the form to register is still there. Does this mean that there is a bug, or am I to take it that my message went to the help desk? I have not received a message from help desk to help me to determine which it is yet, has anyone else had this happen to them?
