Marilyn, Under PRESENT rules, there is no way to do what you want to do. One list gateways to one board, and the surname (in this case) must be the same. You will not have much difficulty finding exceptions to this, mainly where "it has always been this way" and they now will not change it, but current procedures do not allow it. Some sort of unwritten "Grandfather Rule" now says they do not change it, even to correct improper (by current rules) gateways. I am Admin of at least two boards that now cannot be gatewayed to the proper list, even though the List Admin agrees to the gateway. Unfortunately, in both cases, the list is already gatewayed to multiple boards, so they will not add any more of them. . . despite the fact my board is the correct one based on names and descriptions.
