Hello Folks, What should be done with a post and thread like this? Example: On the JONES surname board, someone posts this message: < If your surname is JONES, SMITH, BROWN, BAKER or KELLY, I would like to hear from you. > So someone replies: < I'd like to connect with anyone searching for John BROWN, who was born .....and his wife is Mary BROWN.....children....yada yada yada... > A long thread continues all about the BROWN families with no mention made of connections to the JONES family which is the TOPIC of the board. Shouldn't this thread be moved to the BROWN surname board? This DID NOT happen on the JONES board....I'm only using it as an example to protect the innocent...or....guilty. It DID, however, happen twice on one of my family surname boards (which I don't admin.). I reported it as abuse twice and nothing was done. Would appreciate some opinions, Thanks! Lou
I usually just use the report abuse link and ask the staff to review the post. It's probably been posted to many boards anyway. When in doubt ask the staff: ATTN STAFF: Please review this post etc. J. I wouldn't want to generalize about these posts, other than them being aggravating <g>, but would have to judge each separately. In the case you mention, however, where the thread really has gone to an absolutely completely different subject, I would move it to the appropriate board. Best wishes, Lynne
