Hi Mary: Catching up on mail..... 1) we CAN mention labs/DNA services by name and remain within the AUP... we just cannot include their URL that connects to any part of their site as their sites are commercial --- no matter that it be the "free" Public page for the project. 2) The only "issue" I can see with this post is that if you read it, the main topic is the DNA testing, not Rubin genealogy, per se. That would make it a bit suspect for keeping on topic. However --- as was explained to me years ago when I asked for a complimentary board for my Stewart DNA list, I was told that there is one board per surname and all items that relate to that surname are on topic for the board. DNA included. My inclination would be to leave it where Rubins can find it to use to do their genealogy --- so many use genetics in their genealogy tool box, just as we use computers. 3) As I recall others' comments mentioned that mtDNA does not track to genealogy... I agree... however, I think that Robert was merely setting criteria for who is allowed to test under the project for Rubins. And this is a side issue from Board Administration.
